I just convert a my HL tiger into late style.
However, before my convertion, I bought inital decal..........
then....I used it, so, can anyone show me pictures that will fit my tiger?
There is no number of "8" for late style right?

RE: need help for historical reference

That is a very well done Tiger.

RE: need help for historical reference

There were some late Tigers with single digit numbers. I recall a photo of a late tiger from PzAbt 508 in Italy with a "1" on the turret bin. So I think it may be possible for an 8 to have existed.

Your writing on the front plate, I have seen that before in a photo. I forget what Tiger it was.. I like the camera angle on your front-side photo.

One thing is a late Tiger would not have the smoke candle launchers on it. But as it has been said the # 8 could have been used.

thank you you guys~
if I want to change this pattern to another #, what else can I use(also fit the name at front)?

Panther G 12-04-2010 03:12 PM

RE: need help for historical reference

You wont most likely find another pattern too fit the name on the front. That tank was that tank.

Check out www.tiif.de - just about every known photo of each Tiger tank resides on this website.

This looks like your tank here:

[link]http://members.iinet.net.au/~wackywheelz/tigers/strolch_meyer_8.html[/link]

It has a black "8", and the "Strolch" on the front plate. Schwere Panzerkompanie Meyer. Though it is an early model, not a late..

um.... actually
what's ''strolch of schwere panzerkompanie''??

Your Tiger is the "tramp or vagabond" of the Heavy Tank Company Meyer. Basically a homeless, wandering Tiger, that doesn't know whether it is coming or going lol. That is what it means..

According to good ole babblefish "strolch of heavy tank company"
strolch according to a german to english dictionary could mean: thug, hoodlum, vagabond, stroller, scallywag, monkey

RSEA ya beat me by a whole min.

lol.....:D
it sounds sad~
it is better for me to look up a German dictionary before applying the decal on my tank next time....<br type="_moz"/>

Nice! I think it adds character to the Tiger! I went to that link and searched for the tank with my numbers, 133, and I found nothing LOL. Figures.

RSEA 12-04-2010 08:56 PM

RE: need help for historical reference

Pangpang - Yes it does sound kind of sad.. It is probably a more fitting name for my Tiger, as neither it or I really know what is going to happen to either of us during the next couple months. What does pang pang mean?

SyCo VeNoM - A name like that seems to imply a lack of stability.. That combined with the potential for lethality. What a combination! lol Yeah, I did beat you to the punch by 1 minute. Don't I win a prize or something for that?

yellowshaker, are you also converting yor tiger into late pattern?
your tiger 133 should be great, I love the "Knight"

I've another question. Is there any tank club within Bay area, San Francisco or Sacramento?

I have a Tiger that I had converted into a sort of hybrid. It has late and early parts as if it were damaged, repaired and sent back into the fight.I am in the process of fitting Wecohe late wheels as the asiatam's did not last long on this beast.

pangpang_man 12-04-2010 09:19 PM

RE: need help for historical reference

It is a pretty nice tank in details.
basing on your photos, now I know how to add those spare tracks next to the gun barrel
since the Asiatam spare track holder can't be installed as same as the historical mode.

RE: need help for historical reference

Oh! Is that means a tiger #505 with a #133 painted(due to remodel)?

yellowshaker 12-04-2010 09:24 PM

RE: need help for historical reference

Thanks RSEA! That's my cat in white wash! LOL.
As for the turret track hangers, they can be purchased for the Tiger 1. That's what I used for mine.
505th is the Company and 133 is the tank number.

Hey Pang,

To really convert to a Late Model Tiger, you need to notch the front area where the tow shackles are. The smoke launchers have to go. Late Tigers had only 1 headlight in the center of the front.

On the rear the tool box needs to go. And if you get really picky the adapter plate must be modified. Also in the picky picky area is the rear engine cover has to be modified with a triangular cover. The air cleaner intake is replaced with an armored cover.

On the turret there are three posts for use of a portable jib crane. The ventilator is moved to the center. In it's place goes a close in self defense launcher. And you need a turret protection ring, and cut of the bottom of the hinge for the escape hatch.

You need to add C hooks to the upper hull and on the rear left.

Then you need to move the tools around. I'll get yous some more pictures.

None of the above takes away from your fine job, however I can tell you are a guy who wants his tank to look the part.

Don
