Yep I understand that, I do have a question though.

Does the SLU retain the Heng Long track recoil?

Bascially, I would be wanting to retain it but have the option to disable it. For example say if I wanted to use the SLUin the StuG, I buy the Panzer III/IV SLU whack it and because the StuG has a fixed casemate want the tank to recoil along it's tracks. Not quite as violent as the standard track recoil but I would still want it.

Yes, SLUcan not only enable and disable the track recoil, but also set the speed of track recoil. more detail, contact Tim http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif

Ok, so I'm probably being a little thick here, but you can plug a Tamiya apple into a DBC receptical and vice versa witout modiification? I was under the impression that both systems worked with each other's parts, but that you had to wire one or the other receptical in and live with your choice...please correct me if I'm wrong?

As the DBC are DIY kits, you are in control of what you use for mounting hardware. The Tamiya TBU and DBC use the exact same pinout arrangement. When you build your DBC if you use a straight 5 pin recepticle the TBU plugs right in. I build my own DBC and DBU's, so that is what I use, and why. It makes moving TBU and DBU's around between tanks easy, You just have to mark which pin is positive supply to ensure you get it lined up the right way.

***Good News this morning for those wanting to use the SLU.***

Hulu talked with the SLU manufacturer last night and we got some clarification.

The SLU will work with a TBU apple. The manufacturer called connecting the TBU "Simple" and will forward us further information next week on how to do it.

Good news.

This is kind of what I was talking about. A system can be unique as it wants and still be able to compatible at a basic common level . This SLU now has the same IR frequecy and has the ability to use a TBU. Great. It will be better accepted this way. I am pretty sure the same can be said of th El mod System. I haven't taken the time to identify the EL Mod pins, but it no doubt has the five critical pinouts to use with a TBU as well. It must have.

We don't need much in standardization, and I appreciate you went back to the manufacturer with this. With a little effort, we can maybe get to a place where multiple brands of battle systems can all function at the same basic level when they get together, with the exclusion of no one . They can all be unique and showcase new features, as long as the have a default back to a basic standard. I believe that basic standard is the Tamiya IR frequency, and the pinout arrangement for the IR sensor. If every manufacturer paid heed to this and designed their system with these two basics in mind, the hobby and the hobbyists would be well served.

Thanks Tim

Hulu reminded me to add that the SLU should also work with a DBU apple. [8D]

Again, we are waiting for more information from the manufacturer.

Tim,

I think your SLU system is a welcome addition to the tank hobby, which is why I ordered one.

Presently I have equal number of Tamiya and EL MOD systems, each has their pluses and minuses.

From what I have seen the SLU system looks to be a good entrylevel to mid range level system with the added feature of being very affordible. I will be happy to provide a review as soon as I get my hands on it. (Affordible hobby has always been one of my pet peeves)

As for some of the other comments about wether or not it being allowed to compeat, well why not? as long as the user agrees to conform to the club or field standards and rules.

All that would be required is for a club official to do a pass or fail inspection prior to said unit being placed on field, that shouldn't be so difficult to accomplish.

ok so much for my soap box stuff..nuff said

I look forward to getting and installing the SLU

Kind Regards

bullyhys
