Tamiya Flash Output?
 

Anybody know the output of the 4 pins of the Tamiya muzzle flasher? I want to use it to trigger something else. It hasa high voltage warning, but is that for only one pin?

the output is no good for any thing but the flash 3000 volt output set signal return

Not to hijack the thread but somewhat related! Does it still charge even if you don't connect a flash unit to it? I'm using some small batteries and want to conserve as much power as I can and wondered if the flash was sapping energy still.

With out the flash uni5t connected it should not draw voltage. The unit is a cppaciter that draws and stores the voltage. No unit no draw. And get some better batteries. You will have a lot more fun that way.

whether conected or not the cap still charges thus the warning tag High voltage the voltage is stored till you fire the cannon if no flash is installed it grounds out internaly to prevent flash of high voltage inside the tank thas why it has a senser circut to tell is a flash is persent

Well the reason I ask is because of my 250/9 half track build. I'm using 6 AAA 1.2v NiMh 900mah batteries. I figure I can get around 2 to 4 battles in before they die depending. I didn't know for sure how the flash capacitor worked really and wondered if it could be "turned off" so to speak so it wouldn't draw all that power. It's probably minimal at this point as I'm able to drive for quite a while before the batteries get depleted. I realize with a TBU installed and in the thick of a fight, that more power may be used.

Guess I should have posted this picoriginally. Instead of a flash tube, I would like to ignite the charge in my black powderfiring gun. The igniter is now a separate circuit with a complicatedsystem (servos, channel mixing...) of firing the charge in co-ordination with the recoil and sound.

Not familiar with flash ciruit characteristics. Can the charger circuit cap be replaced with a smaller, lower V capacitor? The present igniter filament takes 7.2VDC nominal and peaks at about 5A.

the red is the 3000+ black 3000- white wire is the shunt the shunt is whatcauses the voltage to jump across the red andblack leads the shunt is neg when it fires some of the voltage goes back through the shunt and rearmsor starts the recharge for the next firing of the flash yopu can not conect the red and black togetter as it will short the system and the white dose nothing till trigered the is very little current avalable for what you want unless you fire the gun powder with the 3000 volt jump

hmmmm.... 3kV and potential for residual charge - not a good approach to fire BP.
