Issues running on grass

Hi, Im having problems with one of my king tigers its never previously had issues running on grass but recently It refuses to perform neutral turns with one track locked, the motors just stall out. This tank uses impact 3:1 boxes and kenny kong metal tracks. Ive tried using different sets of motors (all broken in) and not luck. Strangly my other KT with uses impact metal tracks and gear boxes runs just fine on the grass! If anyone has any ideas Id be greatful!

Are you sure the battery is good? If it doesn't hold a full charge then it wouldn't power the tank on anything other thena smooth surface. Try swapping batteries from the good tank and see what happens.

Is it possible that the track tension is not correct? Check that none of the sprocket bolts came loose. I would also check that the gearboxes are not binding up under stress. Perhaps a bushing or bearing problem causing binding when the tank is trying to make a turn.

You by chance did not upgrade your sprockets to Impact sprockets did you .

Using the tamiya sprokets which work fine on the other tank!

First, check that nothing is binding in the drive system. Put him up on blocks, and run the tracks, making sure they are both the same speed. This is adjustable with the DMD system. If they are not running the same no load speed, check for binding in either side of the drive train system. If all is the same, put him on the floor, run him, and see if he runs straight and true with the steering stick in neutral. If not, follow the instructions to reset the DMD/TO system, and test again. If still pulling to one side or another, then adjust the rudder pop on the DMD/TO. If still having a problem, check wheels and idlers for a bind.
Also, are the transmissions making any unusual noises?

Agree with Bob here,

The DMD has an overload built in that when current exceeds a certain point (overheat), the FET outputs shut off until load is removed.

If the track pins are too stiff, preventing easy flexing of the track links (as in gluing the pins), there could be extra resistance for a few links that do not pivot on the pin completely.

Thanks for the tips guys! Ive overcame the problem by rebuilding my tamiya boxes I had with the 3:1 reductors and adding shaft supports, working like a champ now!
