You need to use the same size wire and splice it into the existing harness before the plug. Solder and heat shrink the joints.

Wouldn't just a longer flash unit be better? Like for the KT or the M51 Sherman?

Not knowing what you're using it for.

Well I'm electronic engeener and to solder a new cable is easy and cheap than to buy a new flash unit, Tamiya's shipped aren't cheap.

Being an "electronic engineer", you should be able to afford a $40.00 flash unit ... huh? :D

I'd make sure it has a good mechanical connection as well as being soldered. Don't want to add too much resistance to that lead.

Being an "electronic engineer", you should not have asked this kind of question...:D:D:D;)

But thanks for the others who maybe wondered if it was possible (easy) or not...

I am using a Tamiya flash unit in my 1/8 RC Amory King Tiger (Along with a Tamiya sound and effects unit cause I had a spare). Both the main cannon and machine gun wires are extended about 2 feet. Works fine. Paul

Mcovalsk,
Let me add that I used 20 awg size wire, solder the connections, and covered with heat shrink. Hope my reply helps. Paul

Resistant soldering might be needed in this case.

I am planning on doing the same thing. Thanks for the info,Paul, did you just use the same gauge cable/wire for both the MG and the main gun flash unit?

MAUS45,
I used the same wire (20 awg, cause it's what I had) for both the main gun flash and the machine gun. Paul
