You need to use the same size wire and splice it into the existing harness before the plug. Solder and heat shrink the joints.

Wouldn't just a longer flash unit be better? Like for the KT or the M51 Sherman?

Well I'm electronic engeener and to solder a new cable is easy and cheap than to buy a new flash unit, Tamiya's shipped aren't cheap.

Being an "electronic engineer", you should be able to afford a $40.00 flash unit ... huh?

I'd make sure it has a good mechanical connection as well as being soldered. Don't want to add too much resistance to that lead.

I am planning on doing the same thing. Thanks for the info,Paul, did you just use the same gauge cable/wire for both the MG and the main gun flash unit?
