That would be one you could use. If your radio was DSM2 compatible Orange has 4ch rx for $10 U.S. You may want to consider a 2.4Ghz Orange Radio from HobbyKing. It is only $65 U.S. and will get you the DSM2 compatibility. You will have to buy the reciever, but it is just $10 more. The cool part is that as you add Tanks to your motor pool the receivers will be less expensive.

RE: Receiver Help needed!!

I would take the 10 min drive. You would be looking at a week and maybe $4-6 shipping. I do know this, it would be a good idea to have HobbyKing e-mail you when the $10 orange RX's are back in stock. Well worth using them as you add more tanks. no need to move your RX every time you want to run a different tank.

RE: Receiver Help needed!!

Your DX5e Transmitter is DSM2, and the AR400 is DSMx, but they should work together. From Horizon Hobby's website...

quote]
Is DSM2 and DSMX equipment compatible?

Yes! DSM2 transmitters are forward compatible with DSMX receivers and DSMX transmitters are backward compatible with DSM2 receivers. And because DSM2 and DSMX share the same wideband DSSS foundation, all Spektrum users will enjoy superior range, speed and precision whether they're using DSM2 equipment, DSMX equipment or a combination of both.

It is important to note, however, that the only way to experience the full benefits of DSMX (wideband DSSS plus frequency agility) is by pairing a DSMX transmitter with a DSMX receiver.
[/quote]

RE: Receiver Help needed!!

Ah ok thanks! So now the big question i forgot about how many channels would i need since the tank does this..

-Moving turret
-Recoiling gun when fired
-Gun elevation\depression
-Normal Movements
-Machine Gun firing

So ya.... i am worried about how to make a switch on my remote fire the cannon\machinegun maybe i need a 5 or 6 channel?

RE: Receiver Help needed!!

You only 'need' 4 channels. The cannon and MG work off of the elevation channel (they work off an exponential signal generated when you flick the stick quickly to full elevation/depression).

Extra channels (more than 4) are nice to run lights or other gizmos, but the Persh lights don't need an extra channel. They are run off the turret channel via the dmd.

One of the best things I use for understanding radios and receivers is to get a cheap servo and 4.8v battery pack. That way, you can plug the battery into the receiver without it being in any vehicle, and move the servo from channel to channel. You can verify the rx works, and visually see just what the transmitter's sticks correspond to on the rx.

Fire buttons are very nice for battling, as they let you shoot on the move.

RE: Receiver Help needed!!

I've been using Spektrum equipment for years on my tanks. I like them very much.

I use extra channels to run the lights (I wire them up separately from the electronics) and mute the speaker (handy when I run it indoors or work on it) I use this to do it.

I've seen others use extra channels to move the bow mg around, or to animate the commander (he waved his arm up and down). Imagination is the only limitation.

It means that you must set your radio to reverse the throttle channel and elevator channel. Done with the little switches at the bottom of your transmitter.
