Overhauled Pershing

7 Attachment(s)
I took another tank off the shelf and updated it. This time my Pershing. Stripped down with the interior haul painted and then added a TBS/DBC/15watt amp with IR equipment with a Ford V8 for sound.

Cut off all the molded handles and added wire ones.
Turnbuckles on the vendors

Metalized the paint and now it needs some weathering washes

I censored "Sue"

Added a Video outside to show the volume and the relationship of the cannon to the engine.

I always love a great Pershing project i like the sound ,it just sounds like a diesel from an old Euclid rock truck from the coal pits in western Pennsylvania.Im sure I recognize the sound byte that that was taken from but the RPM change isn't there and thats what makes it sound like a screamin Detroit.

YHR 04-16-2014 07:42 PM

Its a Ford Big block V8, and I have a rev limiter set

Panther F 04-17-2014 03:25 AM

Looks AND sounds GREAT Dan!

Wish my JUMBO sounded like that. ;)

Here is a short video on the Pershing, with a slightly different sound set.

Very nice tank! I am also in the process of building a Pershing. Is the metal adjustable idler arm a must for this kit?

YHR 04-20-2014 10:58 AM

I did not do anything to the idlers on this tank. Although I wish you could buy the metal upgrades and wheels for this tank, like you can on the German ones. Of all the the Heng Long tanks, it is the Pershing that would benefit most from the metal suspension and wheels

Hey mate.
I dont know what brand they are, or why they are not more well known but there are some here:

YHR 04-20-2014 05:02 PM

Hey thanks for that. I have never seen metal Pershing suspension parts before. I may have to check these out, as the plastic wheels and suspension are very suspect on this tank.

philipat 04-21-2014 09:24 PM

Pershing looks great. Do you have any build notes? Particularly how you built the main gun and the muzzle brake?

YHR 04-22-2014 04:39 AM

Brass tube was fitted inside the original barrel and the another brass tube was slide over that to give the right outside diameter. The muzzle brake was scavenged off of something, but it was not a purpose built piece. I noticed it and said, "hey that would make a great Pershing muzzle brake": Sorry I can't remember exactly what it came off . Might have been a piece out of an old hair dryer or something

I cover the barrel in a coat of auto body spot filler, and once dry, chuck it in my drill and sand it all smooth..

Dan I did the TankArmy metal wheels on my Pershing and they're a great kit.

I bugged them about not having the metal suspension arms for the forward 2 wheels as they are different and have that funny Pershing interlock... but look what I just found.

I've only seen these on their site & their eBay account.. I'd get them but the shipping...

I got the wheels and suspension for Hobby Raw. They are still in the box. I will have to make sure they are a "complete" set

Cheers

MAUS45 09-17-2014 06:15 AM

Looks and sounds great Dan. I have to say that Sue looked better in "Red"!!! Were those red socks or boots? :o:p

Looks like the HobbyRaw set is the same one I got from Tank Army, so it probably doesn't include the 2 forward suspension arms either.

Besides that it's an excellent upgrade I'm very happy with my Pershing metal wheels :D

philipat 09-17-2014 11:53 AM

Does the Hobby Raw set use torsion springs? Or, does it still use the same suspension system as the standard plastic tank?

YHR 09-17-2014 03:23 PM

It is using the same suspension that is on the plastic tanks

philipat 09-17-2014 05:28 PM

okay...thanks.
