continuous rotation servo for turret traverse
Hi all,
Well I've been away from tanks for the past six months organising my wedding and going on honeymoon etc, but now that is done I think its time to complete my Leopard build. Looking at the traverse speed of the turret with the stock setup from HL its apparent that the traverse speed is on the slow side. My thoughts have been to use a 360 degree continuous rotation servo to address the issue. Something along the lines of this: http://www.robotgear.com.au/Product....ervo-AR-3606HB . My only concern is how to go about wiring that to into the tank, and as I am sure I am not the first person to do this perhaps someone with more experience could point me in the right direction? My Leo's setup at the moment is pretty much standard HL style with a TK22 at its heart. Cheers, Jan |

Oh yeah, That is pretty much the same thing I had in mind except using the 360 servo just saves me a little time modifying a standard servo. Looks like his modified servo is just connected in place of the old Heng Long traverse motor.
Certainly his turret has improved in its rate of traverse just as I had hoped :) Jan |
I use a 360 degree servo for my turret traverse in my Roll Royce AC and just modified a micro HS55 servo for my Renault FT. I think they're a great alternative especially for smaller projects and light vehicles. There's more to it that just removing the mechanical stops but its not too hard to mod them.

Thanks for these tips guys. I too have been looking for a way to make a servo a turret rotation mechanism for a while as the noise from the stock Heng Long units really is annoying.
