multi function fried out on king tiger HL
So my question now is do i buy the dbc3 from that site? Do i need to get a new radio controller also or what do i do?
|
|
I am away this weekend working off my Blackberry
|
Yeah so the multi function i guess "servo" smoked on it. I saw a heng long 2.4 replacement but are the tamiyas better for that or is that one sufficient? What would you recommend?
|
There are no servo's on a hang long or Taigen tank.
MFU stands for multi function unit. A Dbc3 only works with an RX 18 |
This is what burned out. Should i get this as a replacement?

Well that all depends. If you want to keep your tank the same, then yes.
|
I thought about updating it for the danville tank event in November.

I assume tamiya makes an mfu but it would need to be rewired?

With a HL, you'd be better off sticking with either another RX-18 and getting the DBC3 and battle unit or a Clark board. Those are 'Tamiya compatible' which means they'll send and receive Tamiya's IR code for battle. If you really want Tamiya, which I'd recommend, you can get a M4 for around $500, much better deal than buying individual parts for your HL. The AAF Museum has King Tigers for $630 if you want to stick with Heavy German. Either option would still require a hobby grade Tx/Rx and battle unit. |
Gotcha, rx18 and dbc3 it is, ill check back soon. Thank you

Tamiya makes DMD and MFU pairs that are designed for different tanks, i.e., recorded engines, main guns and MGs. Buying them separately from a kit will run you around $400+ depending upon finding a deal. On top of that you'll need to buy a Battle Unit and IR emitter, probably around another $150 once they hit the shelves in October. Then you would still need a bunch of rewiring of connectors and a hobby grade Tx/Rx to get all of that to work in your tank.

Does the battle armor site sell the battle unit also? Does the dbc3 connect between the rx18 and the rest?

Yes it is all plug and play, You will also need a hobby grade radio
|
Bludo, you may only need this part.
http://www.amazon.com/Heng-RX-18-Mul.../dp/B00EO3TV8Q If you are going to upgrade to Tamiya battle standard then you will need a DBC or Clark board. Both will require a new transmitter and receiver. Dan at Battle Armor is the guy to talk to. He is honest and very helpful. |
