Replicating casting texture

What are some ways you guys make casting texture?
I need to do a HL Tranny cover and turret for my A1 project.

I use either super glue or Mr. Surfacer and use a stiff hobby brush or even a tooth brush.

There are PLENTY of tutorials on You Tube that take you through on "How To" but it's pretty simple.

I use Auto body spot glazing. Simple and easy.

This I will have to try! Is it heavy or a light texture? Think it will stick to ABS or PLA very well?

Oh ya, It will stick, no fear of it falling off. The stuff I use comes in a tube like toothpaste, with about the same consistency as well

I use Tamiya Liquid Surface Primer:

I just stipple it on the model surface with an old paintbrush, two or three layers should do the job. I also use drybrushing to bring the textures out during the painting stage. Here are the results of this technique on the mantlet of my E-25:

I use liquid cement or Mr. Surfacer 500 or 1000. I use an old tooth brush to stipple the surface when I use the liquid cement and a sponge for the Mr Surfacer. Just depends on how rough the cast effect needs to be as to how much I rough it up with the brush or sponge. I have also used a dremel tool to get a cast effect as well by using a round ball cutter bit to bounce around on the surface I wnat to look cast. It takes longer using this method but looks good. I ahve attached photos of all three methods. 1st set is the liquid glue method, 2nd set is the Mr. Surfacer method and the last set is the Dremel tool method.

I've never tried these techniques before but would like to on my next project.
Whenever that might happen.
