My Tiger 1 from Mark 1 Tanks
 

I finally decided to empty the bank account and order a 1/6 scale tank. After looking and asking alot of questions, I contacted Mark Spencer. Asked more questions, and last April sent the first half of the payment. I wanted an early production, but that is the most expensive style. The late production being the cheapest (relative). Mark suggested the mid production. Just a little more than the late, and I can change the cupola, loaders hatch and a few other things to back date it.

Mark's website says about 20 weeks from order to finish. One person I know ordered his in May and took delivery in November. Mark finally started on mine in the middle of January. He was waiting for all the parts before he started.
He finished in about 2 weeks. But with the temp mostly below 10, the tank being fiberglass and my knowledge of how freight companies can handle heavy boxes, I had him wait to ship it.

These tanks are made in Russia all Mark does is add the electrics, first thing you want to do is install the correct split link in the chain from the motor to the drive shafts at the moment you have a mild steel nut and bolt which doesn’t quite fit and will break with use when you rotate the chain you will notice that it has a large slack spot this is down to the mild steel nut and bolt.

I can't wait to see it!!! And post a LOT of pics of the build/detailing!!

I'll be watching with interest as well, so thanks for sharing this with us. What are the tracks and roadwheels made of?

Is the hull just fiberglass or does it have metal reinforcement?

And most importantly of all, when do you expect delivery? The wait would be killin' me! :cool:

Thanks for the tip about the drive chains! I probably would have found them, I plan on making a different attachment arrangement for the front body, to eliminate the two screws in the front.

Mike, I'll keep everybody up to date. I have a lot of small things to fix.

The body is fiberglass. The tracks are metal. I'm not sure about the road wheels. It appears that only the outer 4 road wheels on each side have actual rubber.

Scratch, I've been waiting for this thread. Nice to see you, (almost) have it. When we spoke I thought you ordered it before me. I have had mine since the middle of Nov. and it's nice, very nice. My dogs don't care for it much though. I'm going to have to contact Rivet counter about the chain. Congrats.

Mark just sent me the operating instructions. I should have asked for those before I bought the tank. I may not have placed the order.

What a convoluted way to set up a 7ch radio! I thought the Tiagen was bad. Having the radio set up is one reason I paid for someone else to put this tank together. I honestly don't know what to do now. I've set up a heli before, that even seems straight forward compared to this. I was really looking forward to some mindless enjoyment. Not needing a cheat sheet taped to the antenna.

What are these tank makers thinking! Why so D***d complicated!!!

Very nicely done I like the detail. I did the same about a year and a half ago it's almost addicting. Feel free and check my gallery out and I'm open ears for any pointers you have.

Scratchwerk,, the wheels are alloy with rubber tyres, the radio should be simple your tracks should be either on two sticks forward and reverse used together or there is a mixer giving forward on one track and left and tight on the other the other two sticks operate turret rotation, the sound unit is usually on an encoder rotary switch to select the sound and a rocker switch to activate the sound unless he’s used the complicated method of having the sounds on one of the sticks so you have to move one left or right a number of times to select the sound if he’s used that method then yes that is complicated.
So you don’t have to remove the turret or the main engine deck all the time to fill the smoke unit I installed filler caps on the engine deck with the feed pipe attached below, all I had to do was unscrew the filler cap then fill with oil.

Scratch, The controls are good you will get used to them. The tank runs very well. If you take it through mud though you'll find the tracks hold mud very well too.

Rivetcounter, I really like your mod for the oil fill. I have the screens for mine, haven't got them installed yet. Where did you get the fillers?

The filler caps are self-made to fit the Armourtek engine grills I used on my build I have also made them to fit Mark I Tanks with inserts that need gluing in place, I also make the exhaust caps the fit the top of the standard exhausts these make a nice addition, if you look through my build most of the parts I have made are listed

Rivetcounter, I just looked at the link on your build. I was expecting to see another build of yours, the one you (sold) ? But no. A new one. You have some skill. I'm just trying to get the screens on mine. I really want the oil fill caps but. Maybe later. Also thank you for the info on the charger, it works great.

But I sometimes have trouble keeping track of my body parts, one reason I gave up helis. I may tell both thumbs to move forward, but only one listens sometimes.

I don't walk and chew gum at the same time anymore.:)

Shipping weight with box was 242 pounds. Came through FedEx. Cost was around $560.00

Patchcon, glad to help, I do have a build at the moment of my Sd.Kfz.222 then there is the tank that will arrive in a few weeks’ time which will be as in-depth as the Tiger build, that reminds me I have to make space for all the parts in my workshop.

And it's actually Crius, not Cirus. Crius was one of the Titans, brother of Cronus and Uncle to a guy you may have heard of, Zeus. If you ever look into that stuff, the Titans were kinda twisted. Zeus's mom & pop were brother and sister. I guess values differ, eh?

Sorry Crius. It took about 7 days for delivery.

Played with it a little on the way from the garage to the basement. Not to bad! Hard to get used to the controls.

Wanted to let everyone know it officially arrived last Wed. I unpacked last weekend. Just a couple minor damage points. Things I was going to remove anyway.

With the sound off, you can really hear the springs creaking! They stopped after about 20 min. I was hoping to hear the track links clinking more. Man, the individual links are sooo light!

Played with it about an hour, before moving it to the "hobby cave" in the basement. I now have it separated into three parts.
