OK, that photo was much, much larger in the preview. Jarlath, did you also see it larger in preview and then it shrank when you posted? I am NOT liking the new software. I'm also still whinin' about the new smilies, too (imoges?). The regular plain yellow smiley face is the only one I'll use and I don't like the rest.

Excited to see your new project Gary! You stock up on 1/6 tools yet? Guessing needle nose/1.5mm hex aint gonna cut it anymore.

Hey Bret, got that covered. Growing up in Detroit a guy doesn't really have a choice in the matter, turnin' wrenches is in the blood. I'm sure I'll pick up a few specialty tools for the scale along the way, but I already know I'll be buyin' tools till the day I die anyway, and if I live to be a gazillion I still won't know all there is to know about usin' 'em. :) I think the worst part will be runnin' back and forth from the garage to the hobby room because of tools. The Hetzer being such a small tank it's not a garage only vehicle, like the Tiger one I hope to one day own. Small steps, eh? :) :cool: |

The above was an experiment to see if I'd still be able to post large photos, or if the new software will only let me post these little thumbnails, and it appears I can no longer post large photos. I really don't like the new software here, so I think that the best way to view this build will be at the forum where I'm known as Max-U52. You don't have to be registered to look at the thread, and you'll get much better detail. I'll still post links to all the videos here, but probably not still photos.

Hey Gary, glad to see your new toy arrived. The T34 weights about 90lbs depending on the different size batteries I use. I too first used the sabretooth 2x25, but because I inadvertently reversed the polarity once while putting the batteries in, it happens, I fried the sabretooth. I replaced it with the one I sent you a link to and it works much better than the 2x25. I have a 24 volt setup with scooter motors. I have included a link to a homemade Hetzer that may be better for you to get an idea for the paintball setup. Have fun. R/C Tank Combat - T010 (Page 1)

There are some really interesting vehicles in that group. Each tank has its own build page and they have score sheets posted from their paintball battles. OK, got her unpacked and laid out, and the instructions printed from the CD. Old hippies like me need hard copy.
The next step will be to pull the tracks and go over the running gear. I'm thinking about a large lazy-susan, since it's fairly light for a 1/6 scale tank and the lower right now only weighs about 48-50 lbs. Here's the video |
Gary, here's a possible smoke unit. Lot of guys use them in large scale r/c boats.

That looks like a pretty good smoke unit, but that price tag really knocked me out. I'm hoping I can convince Normand to build me an acoustic smoker, or at least guide me as I attempt to build my own. I think this tank might have enough room to build an acoustic smoker with a three or even a 4-inch speaker.

Right on, yea a bit pricey but usually the bigger the toy the bigger the cost. Really you could also probably use the 12V version of the TARR2.
I wonder if I could use a 12 volt TARR as a basis for an acoustic smoker? I'd really like to get great sound in this, so it seems a perfect way to go. The exhaust system is all metal and the muffler should provide a great holding chamber so a system that lets you rev the engine would give a great effect. I'm hoping I'll be able to run this on 3S lipo batts. The instructions ask for two sealed lead acid 12 volt batts connected in parallel. But, it's an old kit and battery tech has advanced quite a bit. |
