Standard HL plastic Abrams tracks, with hollow backs. And 320 individual track pads.

RichJohnson 07-25-2018 12:13 PM

How is that supposed to work out? Are you supposed to change the pads?

I think so. Believe I'm going to cheat a bit and use metal Abrams tracks with rubber pads.

The mantlet looks fairly odd, but when the cover gets added, I guess you won't notice.

They even include fabric for the cover.

Maccrage 07-25-2018 03:43 PM

The printing is very good. Smooth, no sanding really needed, which is great, considering almost all the detail is already on the hull. The only parts that you can really tell are printed are all internal.

Maccrage 07-25-2018 03:57 PM

Upper to lower hull attachment.

Nice. Just discovered they include a ring, gear, and servo for cupola rotation.

Crius 07-26-2018 06:56 AM

Do you think they would tell you what brand and model number of printer they use?

RichJohnson 07-26-2018 07:44 AM

I believe they rented a industrial printer to achive the resolution that this model has.
i finally got my shipping email! Woohoo!

Nice. They send it express, so it should be there quick.

RichJohnson 07-28-2018 02:38 PM

So I see DKLM lowered the price by nearly 200 bucks ish.

My kit is se to arrive monday, sadly I am now at camp roberts on the way to emergency wildfire support with the national guard. Ill be gone like a month or maybe longer. Its gotten pretty bad here in California.

Rjag 07-28-2018 05:30 PM

Good luck and stay safe.

RichJohnson 08-11-2018 02:55 PM

Well, Im back home, I got sent home early cause I got walking pneumonia. Been a rough week.
Any way, opened my kit and was looking it over this afternoon when a package from carson arrived with some stand offs and screws. Kinda a weird think to happen. I assume it somehow didn't get packed in my kit but I haven't figured out what it was for.
So far, Im really hoping they are going to make instructions as I have no idea how to assemble the suspension. A lot of the baggies of parts shipped inside the hull got holes with parts floating around.

First, I am blown away by the printed turret and hull, its absolutely amazing.
But, for what the kit cost me, I kind of expected his own highgrade parts. Like his rubber pad abrams tracks. Not plastic HL tracks with 3d printed glue on pads that will wear off to white instantly, what a stupid idea, really....
And plastic HL abrams sprocket and pershing wheels? Ugh, I feel like I need to dump another 200 bucks into this kit to get the drive components to quality level of the rest of the tank. A real bummer to fell this way... sigh.
Then I would have expected his highspeed rotation box not a HL one.
All in all, it is a beautiful kit but over priced unless you just really have to have a m60a3. The sad thing is I still need to replace the cheap **** with quality metal parts for the quality of the tank just like when you upgrade a henglong.

Looking over the pictures I tend to agree. A lot of plastic for what you are paying. I appreciate the effort and if I had the money would buy one anyway as I have always wanted a M60, but like you I would be bracing it with aluminum and replacing many plastic suspension parts with metal. I look forward to seeing your build.

So far I am ordering metal sprockets, Metal pershing wheels with bearings, and taigen trannys. I do not like the Mato ones they included because they are geared so low. 69:1
I Plan to buy the dklm high speed rotation box and possibly metal tracks with rubber pads.

The dklm propulsion dynamics gearbox would be a really good bet in this.

RichJohnson 08-13-2018 07:58 AM

I have no intest in that thing for two reasons, an IBU cant drive it, and it turns the wrong way when you reverse just like tsmiya modern tsnks with the similar drive.

Crius 08-13-2018 08:04 AM

I thought it was supposed to come with those gearboxes. When they first started advertising they said that a large part of the price was the gear boxes from dklm, so if they're using Mato gearboxes how come they're still charging as much? Another one of life's little Mysteries. ;)

RichJohnson 08-13-2018 08:28 AM

They did drop the price by 200 bucks. But I elected not to upgrade to the crossdrive tranny. They threw in a servo drive for the commanders coupola to make up for it for me.
