Toro vs Taigen
I am seriously looking to get a Taigen tiger 1 metal version. Someone offered me an upgraded toro metal version at a really good price. What if any are the differences between the two? Would I be loosing or gaining at all? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Torro and Taigen are the same tank. They're made in the same Factory and they just have different names on the box.

There was a thread a while back and Imex-Erik explained the relationship between Imex, Taigen and Torro.

I'll second that. I know the factory laoban who also owns KY Models, supplier to Graupner, Proboat, PEBA & other RC boat brands .Torro's new 1/16 Schwimmwagen is due to launch soon from this source.

I pre-ordered, and pre-paid, expecting they would ship on December 15th, but then I got an email saying they won't ship until late January at the earliest. At least they were prompt when i asked for a refund.

No idea but would expect the Schwimmwagen to be available soon. Certainly before Hooben's Cromwell or even their Hetzer that was to be released back in April.

So my next question is are the parts torro to Taigen and vice versa interchangeable? The reason I’m asking is because I’m getting a good deal on an upgraded ir metal torro tiger 1. Do I just change the turret (could it be just that easy?)to make it airsoft because there’s not a lot of people to battle with in Las Vegas. any input would be appreciated.

Effectively yes, although I think you need a different wire or something. But it can be done pretty easily.
|
You have to add a wire if you're going from Airsoft to IR, but if you're going from IR to Airsoft you're going to end up with a wire left over. I believe it's the ground wire for The Recoil, but it's not a big deal and yes, all you have to do is change turrets.

Thanks for the information. This is my first experience with tanking. I’m really looking forward to it.

Just be careful switching from HL to Torro/Taigen/Mato. Sometimes suspension arms, idlers, sprockets, and tracks can have some compatibility issues. For instance you can't use some Taigen/Torro/Mato sprockets with HL tracks and vise versa. Some work, but some don't. For tracks you typically want to match the sprocket manufacturer to the track manufacturer unless specifically says it will work. Some sprockets have a different backspacing also like the HL sprocket bore is shallower than the Taigen sprocket bore on the KV-1 sprockets so you may need to match the sprockets to the gearbox type or swap the final output shaft to a different length shaft. There really is no hard and fast rule that everything from X will fit Y.

Throw a clark board in that thing and come to LA tank. Its worth the drive. Especially for the June Tankfest. Its only a 4 hr drive. I go to LA most months and its a 2.5 hr drive. Its alot of tanking fun you look forward to all month.
Then try to get some folks in Vegas interested and get a group together. |

There are only 2 hobby stores in Vegas anymore and neither one have ever sold a tank. How often is there anything in the LA area? I live in Vegas but I work in Southern California. |
