The t34 is my best tank among my fleet. Yes . . . I've become the crazy tank man with over a dozen tanks and unable to part with any of them. Of all my Tamiya's (I also have a Leopard ), VS, Marui and HenLong, my modified t34 full option, which runs on Tamiya Pershing Electrics and gear drives, runs the best among them all. Super agile, quick and responsive and butter smooth. I'm sure the design of the t34 has something to do with this. Low profile, simple suspension, and the perfect combination of weight overall tank dimensions and tread design. Ferdinand Porsche loved the t34 so much he wanted to copy it exactly how it is and make use of it for the German Army. I like my t34 so much that I'd like to do a full option SU100. I'll post some pics later.

Just a heads up on that tank, since I had one. The transmitter is the kind that each stick controls a track (unlike even the HL tanks), the tank does not shoot pellets, and it takes AA batteries rather than a rechargable, stick pack.

Like Sownare said, they are cool tanks and the upgrade to Tamiya electronics makes them great, but they need some work. I converted mine to use a stick pack, rather than AAs, but I eventually got board with it (since it could not IR battle or fire BBs) and gave it away.

This is the one I'm getting next (would have it now but my head-gasket went on my car last week[&o]) Tankzone do a few upgrades for it including a SU-100 conversion kit. Can't wait till next pay day!

Looks great! How hard was it retro-fitting the Pershing electrics and gear drives?

Oh and also, how does Tamiya achieve the sound for each tank? Is it part of the DMD unit or of a seperate unit? I'm just thinking how one could put in authentic T34 engine sounds...

Leopard 2 uses one single unit. Others use 2 separate units.

You have to machine brass gears to install the pershing gearboxes. You could use the stock gearboxes and connect them to the Tamiya DMD unit, which controls the throttle and other tank functions. The MFUnit controls the sound effects and is connected to the battle unit. My t34 has stock elevation and turret rotation devices and are hooked up to the Tamiya DMD and MF units. The speakers are 3watt 8ohm pairs, rectangular in shape. Tamiya machine gun unit and cannon flash unit. Daryl Turner did the mod for me for $250.00. There's a post on this forum. Just do a search of this name and t34 and you can read his own account of his work put into my tank.

Check Ebay and you may be able to find a Tamiya Pershing DMD and MF together for under $250.00 and the geardrives for under $80.00. If you want a sound unit that authentically replicates a real t34 down to the gear shift noise, check out Thomas Benedini products on his website, www.benedini.de. I have two of his sound units, the t34 and panzer III. His soununits are expensive and at the same time highly realistic. The 1/6 scale guys frequently use his devices. Good luck!

Could a DMD-T07 be used instead of the Pershing DMD?

The DMD T07 is designed to be used with the Tamiya's gearbox for their Leopard A6. This gearbox is a single unit powered by two 540 motors. One motor controls forward and backward movement and another 540 controls steering. The DMD on the Pershing and Tamiya's other WWII models controls two separate gear drives. Basically, if you plan to purchase the Leopard DMDT07, you'll have to purchase the gearbox for which it is designed.

The T07 is also a big piece of electronics and will be hard pressed to fit in a smaller tank, not to mention the gearbox and 540's !

Thanks for the nice words. I enjoy the t34 alot. From close range, it may be pose a significant threat to your excellent Tiger! The markings on the tank I cannont take credit for. The paint job, including the markings, are straight from the factory. The best thing about the Pershing sound effects is the track squeak. It just adds to the overall affect. I'll post some pics of my t34 next to my Tiger 1 a bit later.

The turret rotation device on the WSN T34 is the same as that on the S&S Tigers and Pershings. You may want to ask Murphy at Matotoys about obtaining HenLong Electrics. I should also inform you that the t34 requires some assembly of detail parts and does not have motor or machine gun sound effects. The sound effects simulate only the cannon and nothing else. The t34 looks gbest with a bit of mud on them!

Exactly. I mean the t34 is still in service by Serbia and Cuba and Venezuela. It has such a long and storied combat career. I understand that Marui is working on a 1/24 airsoft version of the t34. I wish Tamiya would do one. I love the sound of the t34's engine.

Yay!! You'll on this forum find all the help you need to modify your tank in any way you wish. Or you could run it as it is and let your imagination do the rest. l'll post a few more pics of my t34 socializing with some panzers. Maybe a Korean Scenario with a Pershing.

You will enjoy the T34, especially with electronics upgrade!!
It is almost impossible to drive stock.It has become one of my personal favorites!!!
For some reason,this baby tackles and overcomes obsticles that none of my other tanks can get over.
Mine will scale a brick,laying flat on ground(thats about what? 2" verticle climb?)
I am very happy I got one and did HL S/S upgrade to it(Tamiya upgrade was a bit too much $$$ for this project,for me)
