Motor wiring problem
 

I need some help, i've been trying to figure this out all night but I cant seem to come up with simple solution. I'm putting 4 motors in my tank, 2 driving the treads, and 2 driving propellers for water driving. and I want to make it so a servo switches power in-between the sets of motors so there not both running all the time. heres a diagram. anyone know how to do this?

you could try using a switch like this

it is a "Dual Position-Dual Throw.....On/On"
It has a long enough stem that you could rig to a servo somehow.
Hope diagram helps(positive wires are hooked to switch)

yup, just use two of those swithes and use a servo so that when at one extreme....activates one switch, when at other extreme....activates second switch.
Also, I think you would need a servo that would stay in place once activated....like a two position servo( I think they make those)

Also, your motor "polarity" may be different than what I have drawn...not a big deal though

this is the type of servo you need(read the tech notes). Kind of pricey though!!!


"A retract servo is a very specialized servo. It is non-proportional,

im going to be using a 6 channel radio with toggle switches on it, dont those make the servo goes all the way when the switch is flicked?

If using two of these switches...which I think is a bad idea,because they have to be hit twice(once to turn on and then once to turn off) so good luck getting a servo to do THAT!!!!
I would use just one of the DPDT and call it a day....its either in one position or the other,thus easier to hook up to a servo.
You also might want to try a solenoid to throw the switch instead of a servo,this one is 12vdc but might work with 7.2vdc

yeah i think ill head over to radioshack and pick up a DPDT switch. and sorry i cannot read schematics very well... lol, but thanks for your help
