Problems disassembling the Heng Long Panzer III...

Hello. This is my first RC Tank. I bought a Heng Long Panzer III and would like to replace the tracks and wheels with metal ones. I am having difficulties removing the RETURN ROLLERS. It seems that the axle is a pin that is place really tight (as opposed to a screw which is the case with the idler, sprocket, and wheels). I could pry it but thought maybe there is another way. Any help appreciated. PS. This is really an accuarte representation of the "L" model, which I intend to accuraze and paint up! Great hobby!!! - Harvey

Why remove them? If you must heat up your soldering iron and touch the pin with it and gently push it out after a few seconds.

I think the new tracks should roll over them once they're started on the new idlers and pulled forward. No?

The return rollers shouldnt be removed, definitely not "just for a track replacement/upgrade". Feed them over the rear idler, along the tops of the rollers and to the sprocket, pin them there

The stock tracks on the PZ III are strong and work great! If your pins are slipping out just dab the ends with CA glue. ;)

So "tankmad", maybe I'm a tad dense - what's your point, with the gigantic text ?[sm=confused.gif]

The replacement set of metal wheels for the PzIII includes the return rollers, so, in order to substitue them you must first disassemble the plastic ones.

Perhaps it's semantics. Are we talking about the idlers (big rear wheels) or the 3 little rollers across the top. The 3 little guys don't need to be removed, but the larger rear idler must be separated and replaced. Methinks he means the 3 little guys across the top. Kagero43, please correct me if I'm wrong.

cheers

AAaah, had not seen the complete wheel set. There seems to be a distinct dearth of info here in the US compared to Europe and Asia. The worst part is most of us don't speak German or Chinese. My humble apology.[sm=sad_smile.gif]

cheers

I removed the return rollers on my pzr3 when I was painting it. First i carefully pried off the outer return roller wheel. Luckily the glue guy didn't go nuts like he does on some tanks. Then useing a wire nipper from radio shack I eased out the metal pin while supporting the inner return roller wheel and it's support piece. Be sure to support the inside of the tank hull wall when you re-insert the metal pin that holds the return roller.

Hallo Kagero34

Pzrwest has already explained in detail and perfectly the how-to ;)
I was less lucky than him for when my PzIII was assembled, in the HL factory they were celebrating the "China glue festival". Needed a lot of patience, brake fluid and cutter blades for to separate the outer half of the return rollers.....

Thanks guys for all your help!!!! I got them off using the advice here! I bought a cheap pair of wire strippers from CIRCUIT ITY and pried them out. Then good old pliers with a bit of care and off they came! I will post pics when I am done my mods! I am building a Dersert Afrika Korps Panzer III L tropical.
