Pershing Jerky Movement?
HI All,
New guy to the forum, so my apologies if this has been covered somewhere. Got my first Heng Long Pershing today and I love it! Everything seems to work ok, except for jerky movement, kinda of a stop and go action. Very touchy movements with the transmitter in any direction I go,not bad....just real touchy IMO. I even put it on my desk and ran the tank full speed and it acts like something was loose, it stops briefly and goes, very quickly. The turret,BB gun, smoke, and sound all seem to work as advertised. is this a crystal problem or something loose inside the tank? How do you tell the difference? And if I do take it apart, whats the way to proceed in taking it apart? Has anyone posted pics of taking it apart? I didn't spot anything when I searched the forum. Thanks for any help in advance.... Skitt [:@] |

Skitt [:@] Wackyheels I think has a manual in the FAQ section or else try tankzone, but the Pershing is just eight screw on the bottom! The Jerking could be anything from the new tracks not broken in and the flash is catching, or the tracks are rubbing on the skirt when you make certain movements I have had a couple of Pershing here I needed to use heat gun to fix the mold problem! Or it could be a loose antenna or connection to the receiver board! Everyone buying a Heng Long should open them up first and look for cold solder and wires about to fall off and scews loose on the gear box ect... If you do the PM they will run great! The blitz |
RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
is the tank S&S (smoke and sound) or non-S&S ??
[link=http://members.iinet.net.au/~wackywheelz/tanks/hobbyhavoc/ssupgrade/pershing/]My Guide[/link] should help a little... |
RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
Ok, sounds good.....thank you. I will open it up and take a good look around and see if I can figure out the problem. I'll also take another look at the FAQ.
Again thanks much for the response, i'm very excited about the tank! Skitt |
RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?

RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
I didn't see any "Alice" tracks so that is good! ;) Bend that motor mount back so the pinion makes good contact with the gear.
Make sure the battery is fully charged and take it outside and run it without the top on. Then run it with the top on. Run it away from homes and power lines and such. It could be an antenna problem or interferance with electronics in your home. |

Whats an alice track?

ORIGINAL: skitt Whats an alice track? These are "alice tracks" they are backards, but mine is such a good runner I don't want to fix something that isn't broken! The Blitz Your problem, sometimes you have to widen the pins in the crytal both in the radio and in the tank (receiver board)! Is the antenna in the radio screwed in correctly? Do you have the antenna up all the way,, is there a large power source near by? |

RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
Ok.....how much are the boards?...... this one seems to have got smoked. It's definetly shorting out, cause the board smokes everytime I put power to it.
All because of the power switch........does anyone have a pic of how the wires are connected on the main power switch? I just barley moved the wires and the one thick red one came off. I thought it might have gone across both side like the other two, but i'm just not sure. Breaks my heart..... I was soo looking forward to playing with it. |
RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
Take a deep breath, wacky's manual has all of that, other wise I have a picture somewhere! The power switch cuts the hot on two of the switches legs the thrid wire engages on the off position of the switch, this is for the ground and can be clipped off of the on/off switch! Then all you have is the break in your positive line, one side goes to the board and the other connects to the battery!
If the Board is blown I do have the latest RX-13 boards $25.00 includes shipping The Blitz |
RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
The "magic smoke" can often escape when the tinkering starts (lots of dead boards happen this way, its all those wires with not much "give"), many learn the hard way and in the end be very careful, triple check everything before you flick the mighty switch :D

RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
Sorry to hear about your misfortune. You will soon be a Heng Long "Brother in arms". It is part of the passage. You will enjoy fixing it.

RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
if you do have a pic of the switch, i would appreciate it. And where do i order your boards? IMO, the Heng Long circuit boards feel rough, not the quality of other circuit boards, but then again the price is what makes it. Having just got the tank it sure does take the wind out of my sails.....
Thanks for the help... Skitt |

Having just got the tank it sure does take the wind out of my sails..... Thanks for the help... Skitt E-mail me at [email protected] for the boards! Better then a picture you need two find the positive wires! The one coming from the edge of the board like shown in the Picture below! You only need to wires going to your power switch the one from the board and the other to the battery both positive wires not ground needs to go to the switch! E-mail me and I can get you boards out tomorrow! The Blitz |
RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?

RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
Thanks! But have to admit I don't feel all warm and fuzzy inside. New board on the way.....I'll try hard not to screw it up.

RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
Hi If i recall this happend to my M26 and i found that where they screw the antenna holder on the inside of the tank it was hitting the motors causing interfearance problems ...Try putting some sort of tape over the bottom antenna mount so it can't short to the motors...

RE: Pershing Jerky Movement?
so far that has not been my problem.....but thanks for the suggestion......my problem turned out to be the switch. One of the connections was poorly soldered and it shorted out my board. Blitz came to rescue and now i'm running again.
