Great Forums
Hello all,
I am new to the forums here and R/C Tanks ...well R/C anything. Why Iwould post here is that avendor at the statefair sold R/C vehicles for land, air, water and everything in between. Looking around their booth they hadthese tanks on display. At first I didn't think anything of them. Unfortunately, they were charging and couldn't see them in action. To my surprise they featured airsoft andboasted up to 80 feet in distance. I was sceptical about that claim but one of the employee's assured me that it's true(So it has to be true righthttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../msn/75_75.gif). I was a bit anibrieated at the time, so this was all kind of a blur and asked if it would break the skin, his response was "it stings and mosquito bite welt at worst." I COULDGETBEHINDTHAT! The $99 + 9% tax price tag for something I never seen before was a little more of an impulse buy at the moment. Especialy when beers were $5 a pop and the night was young. So I skipped it... Couldn't stop thinking about them, soafter researching themon theinternet, I'm going to get one.I'm glad I waited as I ran into this forum and some of the brightest posts and helpful people.knowing that there is somewhat of amarket for these tanks and replacement parts and upgrades, I'm pretty confident of spending muchmore then $100 for the tank and modifications. I will probably post another thread on my build once I figure out what I'm getting. FlexXx |

Welcome to the forum!
For $100 it won't be much of a build as they are pretty much RTR's, but the modification(s) of them is quite fun and a challenge! Let us know what you get. :D - Jeff |
RE: Great Forums
Its a great hobby,, be careful it's addicting;) Well the airsoft units do not shoot 80 feet they shoot about 25 to 35 if you have an extremely good unit! They will give you a red mark if you are inches from the barrel and will possibly sting at 10 feet! A few guys on here have done some gun upgrades and like you said there are tons of every kind of upgrade that you want depending on the model of tank you choose! The blitz RCTankWars.com |

Welcome to the board. You will have trouble and we will help you:D
The great thing about Heng long is the fact you can buy parts, and this is what elevates them out of the toy box. When they break you don't have to throw them away. You can rebuild them , better than stock. In a nutshell that is why they are still around. If I were you I would wait for the Panther that is coming out in a few weeks. That should be a pretty sweet tank. If you want to buy something right away a PZ III or Stug are great because of all the metal upgrades available for them. |

This is one of the most fun and safe hobbies out there...(that is of course if you don't solder near your paint thinner:eek:) Yep you will find aftermarket parts too good to pass up. You will be frustrated at times, confused, and bewildered. However; once you see the machine you built come to life...nothing like it! So welcome and dive on in! Don |
RE: Great Forums
RC tanks is a fun hobby and as been mentioned, plenty to do with upgrades and parts availability. If you are into modelling, there are many conversions that allow you to buy several of one tank and convert them into other variations. The little Pz III is an excellent tank both for reliability as well as conversion kits. The New KV I and Sherman will also allow plenty of work in this area. Any questions you have about RC tanks will generally be addressed by several members. Have fun.;)

RE: Great Forums
I want to stick with an American tank for my first build and have chosen an M1 Abrams. I see that there are metal sprockets andtreads /w rubber pads available in 1/24. I think Icould mod/upgrade the motors and gear boxes for torgue and speed. So far my research hasshown that theavailable Abrams throw thestock track . My bet is the lack of quality treads and road wheels. Also most of them advertise 25m distance on an airsoft BB straight out of thebox. Here is a reply to a post frommember "LocalLoser"who bought one from Dick's Sporting Goods: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3579470/tm.htm Some Abrams manufacturers I found Firepower (Dick's Sporting Goods) VS Tank Pro Tokyo Marui Heng Long Just a couple I found. Depending on how I have to order I may just get this from Dick's website. Otherwise a MArui or VSTP FlexXx</p> |
