Still waiting on parts so i put together the insides. I removed the box from the rx18 and added a fan located the on/off switch and volume under the rear deck hatch and a speaker from a pc set.

The extra gear is from the mato sherman boxes i just had to make a mount for the right motor. To tighten the swing arms just counter sink the screw hole and i used a soldring iron to get a few more mm of travel. When i was puting it back togeather i noticed the sprocket was about 1/8in out of alingment so i shimmed them out. I also did the sprink fix on the first and last road wheels.

I finaly got to drive it around today and cant believe how mutch the roller blade bearings help the gearboxes are even quieter. These were replacement parts for skates from wallmart and fit the hl shafts perfictly.

CT, your doing a great job! I don't know if I read anywhere that you stated if you were doing a particular tank? Are you doing the British Cuckoo Panther G? <div>
</div><div>Also, you wouldn't happen to have calipers on hand and if you do, wouldn't mind taking measurements of the bearing you used from the skates? </div>

Not realy a particular tank im just working from what pics i can find. The bearings are 22.00 mm od and 8.19 id i think all the replacement skate parts are the same size. Starting to think about paint maby green base and hard edge stripes on the sides only. Any suggestions for a late g paint job would be welcome.

Well, I think Cuckoo would be a unique tank to have or similar to it.....I think that large star is striking but it only had one road wheel on the driver side. I'm not sure if the base was green with horizontal pattern winter wash over it...can't find documents on it, but it's your tank and you can do what ever you like!

Cheap tank,
Great looking Panther, I'm kinda glad mine is still in sand primer. Between you and Karel, you guys have given me some many ideas, it may take me a couple months to incorporate them LOL. Anyway, as always another question. Did you pressure fit the drive sprocket bearings into the gear cover I can see the styrene spacer ) or were they glued in. Also, a little on how you made your 3-1 gear boxes. I can see the nylon gear, but just how did you mount it in the frame? I would love to see a vid of your panther running. As always, thanks for sharing.

Jim

I had time today to do a tittle more on the panther and after my jagdpanther broke the idlers off as soon as i started running it a quick fix for this one. A little brass tube and rod solderd togeather with a couple of collets a drill and saw and i hope they dont fall off this one.

Well i finaly got it running and almost done. The asiatam metal arms and springs work mutch better with almost no flex. I ran it a few hours on pretty rough ground with no track problems other than loosing some schurzen so i guess now i must get another model.
