Crusader MK II, scratch

my new project. It will be my 3th Scratch Tank. Now, i want to build an Crusader.
Thats what i want to do

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3236386237.jpg

For an Basis, i use some parts from http://www.asiatam.de

- Suspension Parts Panther

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6566343235.jpg

- used Rims and Tires from an T34
- used Panzer IV wheels ( rear )
- used Panzer III Chains ( will modified this later )
- new Asiatam 3:1 Gearboxes ( very good and chepa too )
The rest i will build by myself

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6565666134.jpg

Thats what i was doing yesterday

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3732383936.jpg

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6137626663.jpg

The body i build out of 2mm Polysterol

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3933663234.jpg

So it looks like later when its done, i just put the parts in to see how it looks like. i hope it will work great, the chance is very good till now

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6262633236.jpg

i cut a lot of brass tubes 5 and 6mm

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6666336232.jpg

i pressed the tubes together

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3566326233.jpg

the tubes are the new bearings (?) for the rims

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6438613662.jpg

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6364373662.jpg

Now, when i was buildt in the complet suspension i got the right heigt from the sprocketwheels. I buildt way to high in this, so i correct this

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3134343335.jpg

As basic i glow some PS-Sheeds together and fill it up with Resin. Thats really strong, now.

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3137313731.jpg

For safity i was soldering on the top of the brass and glow PS behind the spring, now it can´t Fall out :haha:

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3035616533.jpg

Than i was building the same suspension system, like the other 4 axles to the first axles, but with different degrades ( sorry, my english is very bad )

I closed the drilled hole for th original T34 Part idle wheel

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6362303737.jpg

Out of brass i build an own adjustable one ( don´t know the name for that thing, we call it Kettenspanner )

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6431303431.jpg

Kettenspanner from top

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6332663338.jpg

close to completted Suspension

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6233643864.jpg

Next days i will build in electrical for Testdrive 8|

RE: Crusader MK II, scratch

At the first Picture you see that i build everthing together as a test. I wanted to check the heigh with this suspension. Well 1cm to high. **** happens

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3431363930.jpg

First i screw and glow the axles together.

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3432396134.jpg

Here you see it better

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6430623038.jpg

Now, time to find out where the Probs are and how i can fix this.

Here...

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3438633966.jpg

and here

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3962333530.jpg

Allright, lets rock....

Cut out a little here

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6461643537.jpg

and here

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3964663561.jpg

Cut out a little from Panzer III Chains

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6638373138.jpg

Put Resin in here

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3938353666.jpg

Now its, strong enough

RE: Crusader MK II, scratch

i buildt the little MG Turret first, so later i can see better, what i have to do and how many space i have for something else on the frontside.

First i took a 2mm pipe and buildt me an MG

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3538303037.jpg

The turret i buildt out of 2mm PS. When i cut out the door i made an mistake 8O i cut around forgot the little straight in there. I glow the piece in and prime (?, with Italeri Putty ) it.

Today i was building at the rear side. All together i glue around 500 Screw Imitates ( Punched ), Fenderholder,Shaklesholder etc...
The 2 Boxes at the rear Deck are not finished yet, also the Airfilterboxes are not buildt

RE: Crusader MK II, scratch

I tried to buildt the sprocket wheels. As Basic i used the Panzer IV Wheels. First i put in there Apoxie. Than i put this at my engine lathe ( ? ) Damn, don´t know the right word for this tool, hope you know what i mean.

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6665356264.jpg

At least i drilled the holes in there

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6461303634.jpg

Not 100% correctly, but much better than Panzer IV Wheels

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3839623231.jpg

Today i finnished the sidefenders (is that right ?)

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3662373161.jpg

The little Holders are 0,2mm thick

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3866393565.jpg

Much better than Panzer IV wheels

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6130313435.jpg

Looks complete different i think

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3235396638.jpg

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3638323038.jpg

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6331663533.jpg

just missing gastank and airfilters than comes the turret

For today i wanted to do the Airfilters and some little details.

first i had to cut out of 10mm Brass 10 Pieces 4mm thick and drilled an whole 4mm in there. With my Proxxon, i cut the rest. Than i cut 10 Pipes 4mm and gluewed in there

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3764653964.jpg

The Airfiltercases i build out of 2mm PS ( Polysterol )

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3465376233.jpg

Die Airintakepipes i buildt out of 6mm Aluminum. The clamp i built out of 0,2mm phosphorus bronze

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3939646333.jpg

The trick was to buildt them movable, so that i can remove the top section

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3335396665.jpg

The S-Hooks out of 2mm Brass

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3965383337.jpg

Holders

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3063346463.jpg

more little Details

RE: Crusader MK II, scratch

Today i was building at the Turretengine

Crusader in Pieces

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6265396163.jpg

i start to buildt the turret. This thing hurts me a little. i buildt it complete out of 2mm Polysterol ( PS )

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6330646237.jpg

for the KWk Blende i use a very thin metall plate and bend this. It´s a lot easier if you gue this between PS Sheeds.

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6266346136.jpg

As Mainweapon i used the Barrel from an Panzer III. It´s not done yet. The cradle it´s an 12mm brass piece

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3331393638.jpg

back to the front. i cut in 3 long wholes

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6561396633.jpg

from inside. Mechanical stuff it´s not done yet

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3039623664.jpg

The front part of the turret is just basic. after the apoxie is try and hard i will meke the rest

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3435383835.jpg

Today and yesterday i finnished the turret

WOW. I master craftsman of the highest order has arrived. Splendid work, what else can be said. Few reach the level you have just demonstrated in this scratch build.

Thank you for posting on the forum. There are a couple of other guys on here that are marvalous scratchbuilders, and could probably match your level if they applied themselves, but you have really set the bar high .

This is truly inspirational, although I doubt I will ever reach that level of accomplishment. Maybe when I retire, or in my dreams:D

Anyway, a truly great build.

Send that off to Tamiya or Heng Long and tell them to get the die cutting machines warmed up.
