Default Crusader MK II, scratch

my new project. It will be my 3th Scratch Tank. Now, i want to build an Crusader.
Thats what i want to do

For an Basis, i use some parts from http://www.asiatam.de

- Suspension Parts Panther

- used Rims and Tires from an T34
- used Panzer IV wheels ( rear )
- used Panzer III Chains ( will modified this later )
- new Asiatam 3:1 Gearboxes ( very good and chepa too )
The rest i will build by myself

Thats what i was doing yesterday

The body i build out of 2mm Polysterol

So it looks like later when its done, i just put the parts in to see how it looks like. i hope it will work great, the chance is very good till now

i cut a lot of brass tubes 5 and 6mm

i pressed the tubes together

the tubes are the new bearings (?) for the rims

Now, when i was buildt in the complet suspension i got the right heigt from the sprocketwheels. I buildt way to high in this, so i correct this

As basic i glow some PS-Sheeds together and fill it up with Resin. Thats really strong, now.

For safity i was soldering on the top of the brass and glow PS behind the spring, now it can´t Fall out :haha:

Than i was building the same suspension system, like the other 4 axles to the first axles, but with different degrades ( sorry, my english is very bad )

I closed the drilled hole for th original T34 Part idle wheel

Out of brass i build an own adjustable one ( don´t know the name for that thing, we call it Kettenspanner )

Kettenspanner from top

close to completted Suspension

Next days i will build in electrical for Testdrive 8|

At the first Picture you see that i build everthing together as a test. I wanted to check the heigh with this suspension. Well 1cm to high. **** happens

First i screw and glow the axles together.

Here you see it better

Now, time to find out where the Probs are and how i can fix this.

Here...

and here

Allright, lets rock....

Cut out a little here

and here

Cut out a little from Panzer III Chains

Put Resin in here

Now its, strong enough

Inlay for Electricalstuff

New Optik for Idle Wheel

drilled a lot of holes into the tyres

Gearboxes

complette with inlay

i buildt the little MG Turret first, so later i can see better, what i have to do and how many space i have for something else on the frontside.

First i took a 2mm pipe and buildt me an MG

The turret i buildt out of 2mm PS. When i cut out the door i made an mistake 8O i cut around forgot the little straight in there. I glow the piece in and prime (?, with Italeri Putty ) it.

Door open

en detail

I tried to buildt the sprocket wheels. As Basic i used the Panzer IV Wheels. First i put in there Apoxie. Than i put this at my engine lathe ( ? ) Damn, don´t know the right word for this tool, hope you know what i mean.

At least i drilled the holes in there

Not 100% correctly, but much better than Panzer IV Wheels

Today i finnished the sidefenders (is that right ?)

The little Holders are 0,2mm thick

Much better than Panzer IV wheels

Looks complete different i think

just missing gastank and airfilters than comes the turret

For today i wanted to do the Airfilters and some little details.

first i had to cut out of 10mm Brass 10 Pieces 4mm thick and drilled an whole 4mm in there. With my Proxxon, i cut the rest. Than i cut 10 Pipes 4mm and gluewed in there

The Airfiltercases i build out of 2mm PS ( Polysterol )

Die Airintakepipes i buildt out of 6mm Aluminum. The clamp i built out of 0,2mm phosphorus bronze

The trick was to buildt them movable, so that i can remove the top section

The S-Hooks out of 2mm Brass

Holders

more little Details

Overview all new Details

Today i was building at the Turretengine

Crusader in Pieces

i start to buildt the turret. This thing hurts me a little. i buildt it complete out of 2mm Polysterol ( PS )

for the KWk Blende i use a very thin metall plate and bend this. It´s a lot easier if you gue this between PS Sheeds.

As Mainweapon i used the Barrel from an Panzer III. It´s not done yet. The cradle it´s an 12mm brass piece

back to the front. i cut in 3 long wholes

from inside. Mechanical stuff it´s not done yet

The front part of the turret is just basic. after the apoxie is try and hard i will meke the rest

Today and yesterday i finnished the turret

With the Turret my Crusader is complete so far

Davinci has been reborn! You are the Master!

I'd give my left.... (well you know) for one of those.

There must be a way to make this tank available to purchase.

Absolutely wonderful. If I have you skills, I wouldn't need Tamiya or Heng Long.

WOW. I master craftsman of the highest order has arrived. Splendid work, what else can be said. Few reach the level you have just demonstrated in this scratch build.

Thank you for posting on the forum. There are a couple of other guys on here that are marvalous scratchbuilders, and could probably match your level if they applied themselves, but you have really set the bar high .

This is truly inspirational, although I doubt I will ever reach that level of accomplishment. Maybe when I retire, or in my dreams

Anyway, a truly great build.

Send that off to Tamiya or Heng Long and tell them to get the die cutting machines warmed up.
