Default checking engine temp.

Where is the best place on the engine to test the temperature. Heat sink, crankshaft, exhaust etc? Thanks

glow plug right down the center of the head, that's where all the heat is that you want to know about.
engine block is cold than combustion chamber and exhaust is probably hotter.
