Tamiya TRF 801xt build thread
Hello. My name is Dennis. This is the 2nd kit that I've got in over a decade in this hobby. My first was a 22-t. I got it about 2 months before last Christmas. I was as excited as a kid on Xmas morning. The build went great, and I put 110% of my effort into it. Making sure every detail was perfect. Soon as I finished it I said " I want to do another one asap". It gave me a great sense of pride knowing I built it from my own hands. Anyway I can't wait to get started on this one. And it's hard to believe how expensive it was when it came out, and how cheap I got mine for. As I look over the parts I see pure quality, and some very strong looking parts. I believe it can still compete with the new truggies out there. Any info on rims, tires, and race setups would be greatly appreciated guys. So fire away. My next post will have pics of the diff build.

If racing, you'll need the following.
"Performance Package Version" (item 49497A) The New Performance Package version comes with updated parts to further optimize the TRF801XT. Included in the kit are new front and rear suspension arms that improve durability as well as performance. The new arms narrow the trucks width from 428mm to 422mm. The narrower stance improves handling and responsiveness. Also included in the Performance Package are new universal swing shafts to account for the narrower width of the new suspension arms. As an extra bonus the kit will now include item #1012 (TRF801 HD Upper Shock Mount x2). These new shock mounts are a one piece design, which allows for quicker and easier shock angle adjustment while providing a stronger mount.
All performance parts in item 49497A are also available separately:
1012 TRF801 HD Upper Shock Mount x2
1013 TRF801XT Short Suspension Arms. Note: Must use with #1014 1014 TRF801XT Short Drive Shaft. Note: Must use with #1013 (2pcs)

Well I got the front, rear diffs built. Up front I went with 7000k, and 3000k for the rear. I tried to use the stock hardware for the bulkhead, but they don't work very well to put it nicely. So now I'm gonna get the 3.5×25 cap head screws from dubro. Can anyone tell me how many of those I will need? I planned on Getting two packs. That would give me 8 of them.

Is there an alternative way to convert this kit to the RC Monster kit, which doesn't involve drilling, cutting, hacking, etc? HPI mount, or RC8.2e, etc? Trays?

I don't want to have to order the RC Monster kit from the States. I have heard here and there for ex. that the RC8.2e or HPI Trophy Flux motor mount fits. One, I don't know if that's %100 true, and two, I don't know what battery tray or servo holder or whatever would fit - without drilling...
