Default Building a 1/10 Electric Truggy from Scratch

Title says it all.
Naturally, the motor, ESC, and other electronics will be store bought, but the chassis, shock towers, etc. will he homemade from aluminum I got sitting around.

I'm just looking for some tips along the build. Anything that can help in any way is appreciated.

So you are going to home build -

axles
differentials
outdrives
steering components
gears
motor mount
etc.

Hm. That does look like a lot... should I just build the chassis and buy the majority of the other components? What would be easiest to build after the chassis?

Are you handy with a CNC machine?

Haha no. I'm pretty handy with a dremel, they're quite versatile tools.

Don't think that's quite enough.

Besides the chassis the next easiest thing to make yourself is probably the suspension arms. You can buy delrin in flat stock in the thickness you want. Then you can cut out the shape of the arm with a saw and final shape with a Dremel. If you really want to go nuts you can use the delrin flat stock to make your own bulkheads too. Without machining tools you can't make gears, axles and other stuff but there's plenty of different vehicles out there to rob parts off of.

Alright thanks, I'll probably be using traxxas rear diffrential and driveshafts. I'll keep it at 2WD for now.

Should I rig up a belt drive system, just for fun?

A belt drive for a 2WD? Some how that doesn't compute.
