the cvd set screws are at each diff. it is the end or the driveshaft that doesnt look like a T, you can get 1/2 inch shrink wrap and that will seal the pins in there is one at each wheel also. and yes that is the horn.

hey, guys. similiar thing happened to my truck.
my rear driveshaft was connected and everything was good to go, visually...but, once i torn it out, i saw that the screw that connects the rear diff to the shaft was loose. all i did was tighten the screw with a hex key.
what is that screw called? it's the one that has the thread outside only, no head, no anything. just a cyclinder with threads..but if you look inside, it has a hex shape grove...what is it called?
thanks,
trung

if you get another hpi stearing servo it will most asuridly brake again.
get your self a good hitec or futaba servo and use it in your stearing.
the hitec will cost you around 110.00 dollars and the futaba one will cost around 75.00 both will work well.
good luck.

can anybody tell me why the pinyon gear that drives the rear differental is getting chewed up?
it started making a clicking noise and the lhd discovered the berring on the rear diff had slid forward and i took the diff out put the berring back where it was supposed to be.
now it started making a screaming noise so i took the diff out and discovered the chewed up pinyon gear .
replaced the pinyon gear and chewed up the second one.
sure makes a heack of a racket.
any suggestions as to what is causeing this and how to make it go away?
thx Dirby

Remeber to change both the pinion and ring gear when you have diff problems in that area. I am very surprised noone else is comming forward. I know they exist but noone is saying anything. The diff is junk. Ih ave shimmed till i cant shim any longer. you have to watch for the actual case deforming where the bearing on the pinion fits. it will start to wear and notch and you will spend alot of money replacing the chewed ring and pinion gears before you realize what is going on. The best shim setup I have found is 2 shims on the ring side and as many shims as you can get inbetween the pinion and bearing. mine are very tight and have found they will last 8-10 race weekends before they need replaced. The others lasted no more than 3-5 before they got chewed. HPI did not do the diff's very good. After 3 weeks of racing with my jammin the outdrive cups nor the diff gears have a single bur in them! And it doesnt fall apart in the race.

yeah, me too. i actually sold mine. STR
, you would think they would have addressed those small issues when they come out with the hellfire, but other than a few hopups it is the same truck, with the same hinge pin setup that will pull the screws right out of the plastic, and the same steering.

I know a guy that is selling one that is BRAND NEW!!!Never driven, never even had fuel in the tank. it still has the sticker accross the engine head. The only thing is doesnt have is the electronics. I think it has the servo's though just not radio or rx. He is wanting 350 for it!!!!!!!!!!!
You better watch the STR.. it is having some pretty bad problems too,but is atleast winning races.

i seen a few of these at the track racing against proper truggys. and i must say these hellfires are not the best i seen.
a few problems
1. turing circle. ouch you need a airport runway to get them to turn
2. why is the wing incoporated into the body for? the wing takes the most punishment and the body is the weakest part of the car. thats really dumb.
i see above someone has a hopup with the wing incorporated into the shock towers instead. lala real buggy/truggy style.
my opinion get a real truggy if u inted to race in the truggy class coz you will get your ass whipped by crts, str's and the new x5t!!!
