Default ST-R Set Up

Has anyone got any decent set up tips for the ST-R.

Ride height, Diff oils, shock oils etc. Just built mine using 55wt shock oil all round 20k diff oil centre and 5k front and 3k centre, Rideheight is bones level.

Maybe taking it to the track tomorrow and run in the 528X.

There is a creaking from the front suspension arm also???? I've eliminated the shock.

Thanks
Jim

Yeah, and like all tracks are designed and layed out the same way.. You gave ZERO information on what type of track you run at, (ie. Long or short?! wide with Big jumps, or small and tactical?!). If you knew everything like you just acted like you did, you'd know that you really can't ask a bunch of strangers that have no idea what kind of track you race at over the internet what kind of diff oil set-up to run.. unless somebody knows your track, or unless you give ATLEAST a few track details.. So, I'd be more thn happy to help you out if you'd stop rolling your eyes at me and give me a few track details.

The truggy has just been built, I heard the stock diff oil weights should be upped.

I run at 3 tracks which are all different. The local track is long and flat, Another is really technical with lots of jumps and a hard compact surface. The third is really bumpy and short.
I appreciate I cannot get anything for these tracks, But just wanted to know what the manual doesent tell you. Like shock oils etc.

Well luckly my track is all of that combined! So I should be able to help you find a medium for all 3. For shock oil I use 70wt all around. You could also go 60 in front, 70 in rear. Whichever you prefer. As for diff oils, a 5k/30k/7k set-up should do nicely with that 528X you are running.

Another thing, the stock spur gear has a few too many teeth for a monster like the 528X.. You may want to purchase one with about as few teeth as possible, (I think it's like a 48 tooth?). If you run with that 528X and that stock gearing, your ST-R will be spending a lot of time on it's back!

Mark p's setup from the nitro challenge
front:

- 700w Kyosho oil
- 1.4 pistons
- White springs
- Second hole from outside on shock tower
- Second hole from outside on suspension arm
- 20 deg caster blocks
- 10,000 front diff oil
- front ride height bones level or slightly below
- middle hole on caster block
- B mount on bottom
- High position for upper arm

Center

- 50 tooth spur
- 13 tooth clutch bell
- aluminum shoe
- 15,000 - 20,000 Center diff Oil
(This is with a .21 motor. If a .28 then settings will be different
but I have not tried)

Rear

- 800w Kyosho Oil
- 1.4 pistons
- Blue Spring
- Outside hole in tower
- Second to outside hole in suspension arm
- 2 deg anti squat block
- 2.5 rear toe block
- hubs all the way back
- camber link is in inside middle hole in tower and outside hole in
hub
- lower hole in rear hub
- 2,000 - 4,000 diff oil

here is Yuichi Kanai's set up sheet:
http://www.kyosho.co.jp/web/download...60310kanai.pdf

here is a blank set up sheet for you to use:
http://www.kyosho.co.jp/web/download...60310brank.pdf

considering you have a .28..you may want to use thicker diff fluid like hambugler suggested.

you can also go to truggyracers.com and ask a couple of those guys about some set up tips and tricks, as thats where i got the info from.
