Default CEN Matrix TR Arena or Kyosho Inferno ST

Hey!

I'm new to these forums and new to truggies. Most of my experience is with MT's, crawlers and a bit of on road sedan stuff.

I have had a T-Maxx and a Revo, but I want to get into truggies. I like their power and agility. I want something more stable and a truggy fits that bill. I have narrowed my search to the CEN Matrix TR Arena RTR and the Kyosho Inferno ST RTR. I also have an interest in the Robitronic Mantis but I have pulled it from the running because of the fact that it is from such a new company and coming by parts might be difficult. But if you have any reasons why the Mantis might also be a good choice feel free to chime in!

I decided to go with an RTR because it will initially save me some money and I will not be racing it right away. The Inferno is a bit less expensive but I found a source for the Matrix that is within $30.00 so no big deal.

My buddies have a bobcat and some land to play with so we are going to build a track for us to race on in the spring. The idea is that we race each other on our track until we feel that we are good enough to enter public races and give that a go. Most of our experience to this point is just bashing! =)

I felt like these two vehicles were a good choice to start as a base and then upgrade as we become better racers.

So after that long winded explanation, what I want from you guys is your opinions on these two truggies. What do you like, what don't you like and why I should go with one or the other.

Thanks for your time and help in advance. I appreciate your expertise!

- Marc

The CEN is a much better value. The Kyosho comes with a little piece of wire for your steering link, that's just cheap. And plus the Kyosho ST (RTR one) is based on the older MP 7.5 chassis.

Agreed on the CEN. I had the Kyosho and now have the CEN. I would choose the CEN in a heartbeat.

I have a Kyosho US-Sport and a CEN Matrix TR Arena. The Kyosho is nice and a good car for the price, but for a little more you get a much better truggy in the CEN Matrix Arena. Stock the Matrix handles so much better than the US-Sport and it is very durable.

Again, and for the last time, I'll put it bluntly:

The mayhem is a rolling piece of **** powered by a decent engine. It's not worth the building costs, and someone kicking a pinewood derby car around the track would turn faster laps than the Mayhem ST. Granted it's competable with something like the Team VTX ST1, after adding the extended chassis, wing, race tires, and all that other good stuff, but other than that, you'd have to pay me to want one again [:'(][:@][:'(]

Cen has a great name out in the market. They have been around for a long time building good buggies and truggies. I think they have 7 or 8 worlds under there belt. I would go with a Cen.

well i say get the mantis. part's are available and it is very durable. the only thing i would change is the steering servo to start. with a little setup (as with any rtr) the mantis will hang with the mugen's,ctr's,st-r's,matrix tr's ect. how do i know you ask?. i've seen it done at our track. for the money you get alot of extra's that others charge for like knuckles, clutch bell's,ackerman plate, hump pack and charger ect. it is very good quality for the money.

hey headrush you come on here tooting YOUR horn and putting down the mantis. i have never said anything bad about the other 2 vehicles the original poster wanted info about. if you don't like it fine keep it to yourself. and IF you spend a little time you can find all the part's you need for the mantis. read the first post!!!!!!.

well obviously you've never run one or seen one driven by a good driver. the MANTIS will run with the others all day long. if you know how to setup the vehicle it handles JUST as good or better. don't sit here and tell someone else THEY are antagonizing people WHEN that's just what your doing. you don't care about what someone else want's or might want it's all about you right?.

the mantis IS a good truggy no matter what the knowitall sponsered one's think.

to THE ORIGINAL POSTER do some research and get what YOU like not what everyone else say's to get.

You guys have got to be kidding me. Pi**ing and moaning at each other about what the latest and greatest is. He wanted an opinoin about a few truggys, you give him you opinoin ok cool thats what he wanted now leave it at that. But you just sit and bash each other back and forth at someone elses opinoin. GROW UP!!! I have read only 3 topics from this forum and i see the same **** over and over.

NullARC IMO i would say the mantis. Aftermarket support is on the way. Plus Towerhobbies has a whole list of parts on the way. Even hop ups too. CNC motor mounts,CNC shock towers things like this and (FROM WHAT I HEARD) Pual Colman took it to the a-main in stock form but dnf from steering servo dumping. Mantis and 645mg you will be set!
