Default Tamiya Nitrage Truggy

OK OK...this is far from the high end truggies out there but I was a bit surprised when a buddy of mine undressed his Tamiya TNX 5.2 MT from it''s box...it looked pretty solid and the write-up RC Car gave it prompted him to giv er a try. I havta say if this lurks in its shadow and takes on some of it's traits this will be A GOOD weekender for the guy who's not goin all out race. I can remember when Tamiya was the top-dog....lol showing my age.

it has been a while since tamiya has shined in america. The only downside to that truggy (after seeing it) is how skinny it looks.

No center diff, that is a HUGE issue.

Well if it's meant as a basher/sport truggy its not as big an issue. Most of the guys that this truck is catered to aren't going to a track, so they won't notice that the car might understeer a little.

The XTM mammoth truggy also doesn't have a center diff. It has a 2 speed in the center. And it seems both Tamiya and XTM are catering their truggies to the basher market. Like they advertise top speed, rather than handling. To a basher, most of them would be looking more towards speed anyways. That's what sells the kits for alot of bash cars. You'd be suprised at how many people who are starting out in RC will just look at the top speed of the truck.

But the truggy does look a little narrow, but it seems to have a longer wheelbase then even the TNX. The TNX already has like a 360mm wheelbase, the fact that the nitrage is even longer, suggests its wheelbase is about maybe 375mm~380mm. Seems like it would be pretty stable going into a straight line. Perfect for a beginner/intermediate level hobbyist.

I think the truck looks pretty cool for a sport truggy.

The TNX looks a lil wider in that topless overhead pic.

i think they hit their market... not quite a truggy, not quite a monster truck.

Whats with them and the composite pipes? oh well, it works i guess.

WEll I tho ht I was the only guy still into slayer!!!!!!!! The truck looks pretty good, Those outer edges of the chassis should eliminate any chassis flex without the need for braces. I wonder how much it will be? With these more track worthy vehicles tamiya will need to get there parts suppliers problem worked out. Cool............

the reason for no center diff is EFFICIENT POWER TRANSMISSION
The Nitrage is equipped with the R/C world's first flexible joint drive system, with the spur gear having a short dog bone linkage to the clutch bell, which helps reduce stress on the engine. A durable lightweight aluminum slipper clutch to improve transmission efficiency is also included, which is another first in this class.

tamia still makes great products the tnx 5.2r rocks, very tuff
my son has a tamiya nitro crusher very tuff truck

A center diff is not for reducing stress. This truck will push like a bulldozer without a center diff. I really like the truck, I have always loved Tamiya, but without a center diff or center diff option, this truck will never see the track.

it's not a truggy without the center diff. End of story. That's what separates a monster truck, and a truggy. And the only reason the Revo isn't a truggy is because it doesn't have a flat chassis, and it has a 2-speed tranny.

Basically, this thing will be great for bashers, but that's about it, unless they come out with a center-diff for it

Better get a handfull of those shock reducing dogbones. I think the truck looks like a good idea...but I think Tamiya is overpriced...(nice way of saying poor quality).

Def go for the Matrix!! I have seen the Nitrage in person and impressed I was NOT, we had a customer come in moaning that he had munched the weak gears in the tranny, so we sold him a GS XUT truggy...while he waited for his Tamiya parts to arrive (he had to order online) then he was going to re-sell it quick smart...he was lured in by the BIG engine.

They are expensive and IMO are cheap looking, especially the plastic...looks like what you would get in a TT-01 on-road kit...(Tamiya do great elec kits dont get me wrong but they are just toys)...

Even for bashing I would recommend any half decent Truggy over the Nitrage...I mean for instance who wants a basher that they cant just go down to the hobby shop and buy an off the shelf clutchbell to change the gearing...try doing that with the Nitrage.
Tamiya should stop with the gimmics and stick to tried and true innovations that actually work well...you know what they say...KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid!

And OMG...that radio gear is the epitome of CRAPPY, I though the cheap radio that came with my XUT was fairly cheap but the Nitrage radio makes it look like a half decent set...[X(]

That is my Nitrage on ebay. Don't be shy to make a best offer on that auction! I need money, so, I am a motivated seller. No radio or servos though, but, it has all the CVD hopups (including the center), front brake kit, and the sway bar kit.
