Default Specific problems with 8ight T

I have recently purchased a 8ight T race roller and built it up. I have only broke it in good and ran it around the yard. I was just curious what problems, specifically you experienced racer folks have had with yours? What parts have failed or broken prematurly?
My reason for asking is that I have read allot of bad rap on the 8ight T, but no one is giving specifics!

Mine is set up with a LRP 28 Spec3, and the kings head motor mount frame stiffener, kings head rear frame brace, kings head radio tray stiffener. Changed out the clutch shoes with kings head 7075, and a Robison racing pinion.

Thanks
Jim

Run it and you'll see what breaks (not much of anything I can say). Dont always listen to other people, most of the time they are regurgitating what they heard from one uphappy newb somewhere that smashed is truck into a curb at full clip while racing up and down the street in front of his house or just dumps fuel in the tank and does zero maintenance and expects the thing to run forever like that.

Make sure your servo saver is tightened as the manual suggests and put some loctite on those threads because it will loosen up and you'll see the steering get mushy on you. You may want to install an aluminum servo horn for the steering servo as the plastic insert one will strip on the first good hit to the front wheels. As far as anything else, there seriously isnt much. Aside from a crash that was my fault with this truck which I did some pretty good damage (and no I wasnt ripping up and down the street and hit a curb, LOL), I've replaced one spindle, one set of rear outer hinge pins and the steering ball end popped off on me, once. The biggest thing is the clutch, you wont see much time out of the stock setup including bearings. Pick up some of the dynamite or king headz shoes (and run 4 ally's with all gold or all silver or a mix of the 2) and keep a good stock of clutch bearings on hand and keep up on the clutch and you'll be a happy camper. One thing also in the clutch department, you may want to grab an extra clutch bell, they dont last to long IMO. Try out the RRP bells when you need a new one, I think they are a little better quality than the stocker.

I have not had any problems other than premature clutch wear. My RTR buggy was cured after I read the addendum and adjusted the servos and added the o-rings. Everyone rips on the new hot car, several months from now the 8ight will be a tried and true die-hard and people will pick apart the AE's.
