Best steering/throttle servo for X1 CRT?
What are the best steering and throttle servos I could get (For cheap) for an X1 CRT?
I currently have a Z650M for steering and a Z590M for throttle.

cant really get cheap servos for 1/8th scales and expect them to work well. anything with 200 oz in torque or more will be good. for throttle go for somthing with no less the 100 oz in torque.

I run a jr 9000t for steering in my truggy and a airtronics 94358Z for throttle and brake. i really like the airtonics servos but if money is an issue and you want to save some go for the ace 1313 those would be adaquite enough for your truggy

Well, I'm spending close to $450 on parts for my X1 CRT as it is right now, and that's pretty much everything I need to get it running, including a Spektrum DX3.0.
Could I just buy one servo and use the Z650M for throttle/servo?

I buy 2-3 Towerpro servos each year on Fleabay, metal geared 10kg and pretty fast (.15 speed). Amazing the amount of companies that buy them as OEM and rebrand them, at a much higher price.
Have one in my old buggy for 2 years old and still going well, and 2 in my truggy, one burnt out after 5 months but at $15 each not really a issue.
Cannot see the point in spending $100+ unless you like lightning response which is more suited to onroad that off...

Awesome. What about battery drain, though?
And would it be better for me to buy a new motor (Wasp .28) or new servos first? My servos are in the first post.

ACE DS1015 steering, Futaba 9451 brakes/throttle. The Futaba is a light (but still strong) servo so it offsets the admittedly large power consumption of the DS1015. With this combo and a good condition, properly charged 1600mAh NiMH battery, you can expect between 70 and 90 mins life on the track, maybe more. Basically, top it up after qualifying and you have no worries.
PS Servos first, remember the old phrase... 'Power is nothing without control'

I was planning on getting a 2700mAh NiMh battery from Cheapbatteries.com.
And, what would you say about a DS1313 for steering, instead of the DS1015?

And...Do you think it would be bad for me to buy something like the Bluebird for throttle? I've not read that many bad reviews about it, and it's only $30.

RE: Best steering/throttle servo for X1 CRT?
Everyone I know personally who has bought them has regretted it. People on this forum may tell you they get on fine with them probably, but I can only say what I personally have observed.
On the bright side, a friend of mine had some, and the case smashed (for no apparent reason, it was in a 1/8th buggy, a Hyper 7), he contacted bluebird and they sent him some heavy duty cases free of charge, good service. Another friend of mine had two melt down in the car almost simultaneously, bluebird replaced them, no questions asked.
Having said all that, if I had one, I might consider using it on the throttle, but certainly not on the steering. With servos, it always pays to spend every penny you can afford. It's the servos that control the car. Servo failure INVARIABLY results in spectacular disasters.

I was definitely planning on getting a high quality one for steering, but do you think it would serve its purpose for throttle?

Well, could you help me trim down my list for my X1 CRT? I've got a shopping bill of like $250 something on Amain, but I also want a servo. Can I PM you my list, and you maybe like...Prune out what isn't needed, or a cheaper replacement for the moment?

So it's the throttle servo you haven't decided on yet? Just tell me what the max budget is for the throttle servo and I'll try to suggest something.

RE: Best steering/throttle servo for X1 CRT?
Well, I was maybe thinking of using my old steering servo for it. It puts out like 140oz, and that'd be some money I could save.
I've got like $500 to spend, but between the Spektrum DX3.0 I'm getting, and all of the starting equipment I'm getting for my CRT, I'm down to like $50 I'll have left to spend, without even buying the steering servo.
Will I see a noticeable difference between my 4xAA powered servos, and the new NiMh pack I'm getting?

Use your old steering servo until you can afford a nice digital, with 140 it's fine. You will notice a huge difference in the responsiveness of the servos when you swap out those 4 AAs for a 'real' battery.

that is my combo as well....I run a older 3PK HRS and WOW !!!! I have a 5995 TG as well I use for steering...sometimes the ACE is almost too fast......... the 9451 is wicked for throttle
Good radio servo gear is like high end audio vs low end audio...more accurate, faster, more detailed....what goes in is what comes out good or bad
