To keep or trade my motor? Going into Muggy
I have an rb ws7II with about 4 tanks on it right now. I have had a few offers on it so far, I have a muggy with the 427 in it already. My trades were for an eb mod novarossi 421 with 3 gallons on it, a brand new picco .28 and a brand new os .30. I was thinkin maybe I should either keep the ws7 or trade it for the modded novarossi since I already have a .28 (427) and I want to race this year but I am new to r/c so I was thinking about trading or keeping the .21 becasue to me it seems like it may be easier to learn with a smaller motor. What are your opinions?

421 is the most powerful Novarossi 21 ever made...... it may not have the peak RPM of the RB, but it kills it everywhere else in the powerband......... that 421 will make torque closer to a 28 then a 21 and would be much much better suited to the Muggy then the RB........... if the 421 is in good shape then i say take the trade

I can't imagine an eb mod 421 then. Sorry, I don't know why I kept saying .28. i can't find any reviews on the 421 so I don't know anything about them. I am definitely thinking about the 421 though. I do kinda want a .21 since I the 427 has a lot of power for me. But then again I haev only driven it on snow/ice.

I think I will do that also, I am pretty sure I am going to get the 421. This guy that owns it has a lot of novarossi engines and he never uses the 421 any more.

I just talked to rick brake, I am going to keep the ws7II and have him mod it, said he can get 12-14 minutes run time out of it and he has a lot of his own guys running them and they got it dynoed at 67,000 rpms.

67,000 RPM.!?!?!?!?!
How strong is that engine.!?
Sign me up for TEN.!
And at 12 - 14 mins run time, A LOT of racers would LOVE that engine.
And so would I
Keep me informed on how it goes once you get it, im EXTREMELY intrested.
Honestely I want one.!

The modded WS-7 would likely get totally schooled by even a stock Nova 421........ I have seen the dynoes of both motors and its not even a contest......a Nova 421 makes 1.7 HP and 70 oz/in TQ ...stock !!!! a WS-7 stock is a 1.3 HP with 55 oz/in........... unless Rick Brake is fully cutting ports ( retiming the sleeve) , retiming the crank and completely redesigning the WS-7 its has no hope against a stock 421 yet alone a modded one...... As far as I know RB does not alter sleeve timing, or very much crank timing either, his mods are more efficiency and flow race mods , not altering port timings.....

Ok, and I know this question can't totally be answered by anyone but how long should I expect a 421 to last? Or I should say, how long have other peoples 421s lasted?

It all depends on how you tune, run, take care of your engine.
Personally I have no experience with this engine, but if an engines tuned alright, temps are good, all after run procedure completed, at most times they can out last the truck.

And I asked rick 2x about the 67,000rpms and he said he gets them that high with the ones the people on his team use.

yeah... 67000 RPM is not possible with these engines.....the fuel does not burn fast enough to run at that RPM.....If RB is saying 67 000 RPM he's either lying or has no clue what he's talking about..........

ok. I didn't think it was possible. If it was I am not sure of to many people that could even use that many rpms. supertib, do you think a modded ws7 would be enough to power the muggy? I really don't want to sell the motor yet, I am thinkin about selling my .18tm and using that money to get my motor modded.

Thats what I thought.
67,000 RPM is around 1115 - 1117 Rotations Per Second. That is FAST
I think engines go up to 40K. And that IS a lot.!
@ 40,000 RPM, it adds upto 665 - 667 Rotations Per Second. That is believeable...

i agree 100% qaiz. I am not sure I will get my motor done by him or not now since he told me that stuff.. Sounds impossible to me.
