Default Hellfire SS kit w/ JR XR2i NIB - Good deal?

I can get a hellfire ss kit with a XR2i AM w/1-Z590M & 1-Z270 all NIB for $360 shipped. Is it worth it?

I have read most of the Hellfire forum and understand the issues w/ the hellfire. However, I am still drawn to it. I have a Losi 8ight-t, that I bought as a RTR. Now I want a kit to build from ground up for the experience. I do not want to throw $$ away, and that is why I am asking for your thoughts.

Thanks

I guess it would be worth it, In all reality the SS is not bad, Not sure if your going to be racing it or not..But their are a few easy fixes for a few problem areas, One is get the Xray steering rack..the one for the truggy, this fixes the more steering in one direction than the other..Next is use the Mugen captured hinge pins. I also use the Ring and Pinion gears from the HB LSP..fixes any diff gear problems. The last one I use is secure the rear (front and rear) suspension mounts..Drill and counter sink 2 holes in the chassis and mounts. This pretty much cures the dreaded Hellfire..lol..I still own my Hellfire (more or less because I dont want to just give it away..lol) I do have a few other Truggys..Kyosho ST-RR's (2) Mugen MBX5T (2), and a few Casters..every once in a while I'll break out the Hellfire and race it..It can still win..

you no, actually the hb lightning pro is a very good quality truck. yes it has a weight issue, but you can fix it up for a cheap price!! my buddt has a lightning pro and i have a jammin. that truck jumps as good as mine and a vey good handeler. He got a roller on ebay with hop ups for $190. Not to mention he got at least 20 spare new parts. They go for very cheap and a quality truck! Another good thing is the price of the parts i needed new gears for my diff and i was gonna payu $20 for the ofna ones but instead i got the hb for $10!!!!! vey cheap!

I'm just throwing this out there, but if I remember correctly HPI stop making the hellfire SS and only has the RTR now.

JB,
The Hellfire SS has been discontinued. I have an offer to purchase a New-in-box kit with the JR radio NIB for $360. I will still need an engine & pipe. I want to know if this is a good deal.
The other truggies I am looking are the a Jammin X1X CRT & the Mugen MBX5T, but they come at a much higher price($470 for the Mugen kit & $590 for the Jammin kit both w/ the JR X2i radio). I can get the X3i rado for an additional $20. The decision has not been made, so I am open to suggestions.

The Hellfire must me a fine vehicle, no offence to owners.

Ive seen a few run, and impressed I was not. Granted they were the RTR version, but thats my PO.

Ive tried out the Jammin, now that's a great truck, granted the price is a bit more, but you get what you pay for. Its just a higher quality peice of kit.

On the Mugen, I cant comment, never seen it 1:1.
