Can some one please post a link or even part numbers to the Cen diffs that fit in the HF? are there different sets for the front, middle and rear diffs?
Thanks

Ok, first take a look at this thread on how to install them. This is for a savage but its basically the same.
The front and rear diffs are the same. The center is different.
And this is what you need http://cgi.ebay.com/CEN-Genesis-Neme...d=p3286.c0.m14

I just added this truck to my RC collection and thought I would share some pics with you all. I traded a Savage for it and just got it in the mail this evening. the engine is just sitting in the mounts right now. I am going to have to dremel the pullstart to get it to fit. looks like it will be a sweet truck.

Nice truck. Thats a lot of alloy. Im curious to hear how it holds up. It was a straight up trade?

Looks in good nic Yakfish.
I would prefer the truggy to savage to. It can do everything easier except wheelie easy.
Iam about to go and give mine a quick bash up the road and back just to get some fumes and beer in me.
Its the last week of winter here and its about 85F,xlent.

Its 85 there during winter?? Im afraid to ask what summer is like.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Yeah the trade was even up roller for roller ( no engine, no rx, tx). there is alot of alloy, I would love it if RPM made arms for it but I don't think they do. are there any other companies that made hop-up arms that aren't aluminum? it still has the original carriers and hubs so they will be the weakest link and I have extra of them for if and when they break. it also need a front diff but I am interested in doing the Cen GST Diff mod and just replacing the front and the rear. it has the HPI lightened chassis too I just looked it up on tower and it cost $100 by itself. I got an extra body all the original arms and the original chassis. I already have another engine just sitting and collecting dust I may have to build a second one out of spare parts!

KeithjV 08-28-2009 10:36 PM

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Unfortunately RPM doesnt make hellfire arms. And no other company that I know off makes any plastic ones stronger then the stock

yakfish 08-28-2009 10:43 PM

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Thats too bad about RPM... I just got the engine mounted. I had to do some shaving with my dremel on the bottom of the block and pullstart to get it to sit properly all I need now is an exhaust coupler and front diff.

What size clutch bell do you all recomend for the HF? I just bash around but the only CB that I have for it is the 18T that I was running on my savage but I am thinking it will be too big for the HF.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

MC nice work on that track. Too bad you're on the other side of the world..
Yak it really depends on what you are looking for. Speed or torque? Also if you put the CEN diffs in you need to go with a smaller CB because the gearing on the pinions is smaller.

With the lrp28 id say a 14 or 15 with stock diff/spur. The mesh mite be to tite with the 18 and the engine will be working hard all the time pushing an 18, tuff on yor clutch to.
If you do change to the cen diffs you need a 12/13 CB

OK thats what I was thinking... I got it to fit alright with the 18T bell and it was a bit sluggish on take off but the speed was impressive with that gearing. I'm not too worried about my clutch as I am running losi aluminum shoes and the CB is vented. I think I am going to get the CEN diffs and I'll probably start with a 13T-14T CB and see how that works for it.

In all actuallity Keith Stussman is on the other side of the world from you :D.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

My left front driveshaft keeps popping out from the diff outdrive, only since i changed to the cen diffs. Ive changed driveshaft, hub, spindle, suspension arm, bearings etc. It doesnt seem to sit in the outdrive as far as the other driveshafts. I no my chasis is bent (i keep hammering it back) and shock tower is bent but it never came out until changing the diffs. Iam sure the cen outdrives are slightly bigger but didnt think it mattered. I mite have to swap back to a stock outdrive.

Us Aussie are along way from everyone. Its good and bad.

Good point MC :D
stuss try installing a rubber o ring or a small piece of fuel tubing in the cup to take up some of the slack in the dog bone. You can add a piece to both sides to keep it centered.

Thanks 4 advice. The outdrive cup is wearing both sides very fast. All the others show no sign of wear.

KeithjV 08-31-2009 08:04 PM

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

If only one cup is wearing then its probably because the dog bone was shifting back and forth too much. Im not sure if the Savage SS diffs cups are any stronger then the stock HF ones.

stussman 08-31-2009 10:24 PM

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Its a cen outdrive cup that is wearing, but only 1 of them . All my previous hellfire cups wore badly but the driveshaft never fell out.
The savy ss and hellfire outdrives are both fairly weak. I will try the rubber trick and if it is still no good i will put in an old hellfire outdrive.
My hellfire has sooo many injuries its lucky i have another i use for parts only. Also my crimefighter tyres are almost destroyed from my os28. I need better tyres this time, maybe badlands, but there hard to find here.

Wow you must run that thing hard. What are you running on thats eating up the tires like that?

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

I bit the bullet and put an ofna torsen in front on hellfart- It does what it says and if you race on tracks with tight turns and lot of on-off power sections, this is Good.

FYI you have to make a washer to put right behind pinion and dremel pinion at base so washer lays flat against the gear teeth. Add that to shimming the crown with 4 shims and you won't strip them. GOLD JERRY, GOLD!
