RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Wow. what happened with that piston? Running too lean?
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
that what it looks like? thought it was a pretty good tune, fat if anything. Dont know what happened to it. Hope hpi tells me when they look at it.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Im just guessing. Its hard to tell from the pictures. I would think that the engine probably got too hot to cause the piston to crack like that. Unless you had some dirt or other debris in the cylinder.

So I ordered this roll cage to try and save my engine and key components. How ever I added like 2 lbs to it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Im not racing just Bashing, and will it kill my diffs any more then if I didn't run it?
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
That cage weighs that much? [:o] Wow
If your diffs are shimmed properly the extra weight should make a difference. The big difference you'll see is in jumping. Especially if the weight changed the balance of the truck. The body does a pretty good job of protecting everything especially since its all mounted so low on the chassis. You get any videos running on that track yet? |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
ya I got the diffs shimmed Im thinking I need to change out the diff fluid to 10/100/10 to help with the weight, also go back down to the 13CB. I was running 55W oil in the shocks but the front was sagging way bad, so I upped the fronts to 80W and 90W in the rear, hoping that will help......Out here in Iraq it takes forever to upload pictures, I tryed uploading a video but it was uploading all night and had timed out when I got up so there is no way I post a video. Maybe when I go home for R&R I can post it then..........I ran that Savage XL 5.9 on the track, wow that things a tank..........Im taking my time with the HF dont wanna rush in and blow it up....as far as the weight of the roll cage, the HF RTR weighs in at about 9.5 and that roll cage is heavy.......I mean it put a load on the front shocks..they were about half way compressed.........Like I tell my buddies go big or go home.....I will find a way to post a video when I return home in about a month.....Laters

You stay safe in the meantime.:D

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
ORIGINAL: KeithjV Wow you must run that thing hard. What are you running on thats eating up the tires like that? I put zip ties with fuel tubing on the cooling head for protection. Does help protect the head from scratches. Unless you're landing upside down of very large jumps i dont see the need for a cage.. All my shock towers are bent but they still hold up ok for bashing. |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
ORIGINAL: boo_saa Hi there, i am new to this hobby and just got a 2nd HF, need some advice from you guys. I am driving a HPI HellFire with stock suspension (i think).how do i know if the shock is too soft or too hard? Is there a difference setting if i run on tarmat road and off road track. I run the truck the last time on a tarmat road , and almost every power slide i do or hard turn i take the truck will flip over. Now.. -how do i strengten the shock ? -wat i a shock clip for? -the number on the oil? - wat does piston hole side affect the shock? -any nice setting aly one can recommend. Thanks Guy |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Try adjusting the sway bars, that can help.

I'm thinking about trading a Traxxas 3.3 for an Axial .32. I'm not really a fan of Axial as I havn't heard much good about them but I have no use for the 3.3 and I can use the .32 in my HF. my question is how well does the Axial .32 push the HF? is it pretty strong?
Thanks |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
get what you pay for with axial-

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Iam still bashing my HF hard. Current injuries:
Both shock towers bent Broken aluminium shock cap Leaking shocks Bent rear brace Rips in 2 newish tyres 3 bodies almost destroyed Chasis bent under front diff Cracked top chasis Etc etc I snapped a front suspension pin today when i hit a light pole. Luckily i keep it running with some spares i have and lots of CA glue. Its rarely out of action and i run it almost every day. I now have a jp3 pipe on my os28. Got a real cheap deal new. Good pipe, it really has impressive mid/top end. Also have an 086, 2035 pipe. Wish i had a cam to vid how fast the os28 is. Iam very impressed with the CEN diffs i put in a couple months back. No issues at all. |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
I had mine at the track the other day and some how I lost the cap that hold the front hinge pin in. Ive been reading up in the manual and Im going to try to tune it a little with the bushings and see if I can adjust the handling.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Really? Do you remember what was involved in the mod?
When the a-arm fell off I thought I tore the whole front end up. I was so relieved to find it was just the bushing |

This? Igot the idea from some one on around page 44.
mr snuggles page 42 |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
But doesnt that take away the tuning option? Or did you just punch a hole through the bushing?
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
It takes away the tuning option but stops it falling apart. I dont think you will notice much difference in the setup when you change the bushings around but iam interested to know how it goes. The bushings can be grabbed off ebay (4 for a few $) if you wont to stock up.
Send me some!:) |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Im going to add 22mm to the rear of my hellfart chassis , anyone try this yet?

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Hey Im a serious racer here. Been doing it now for like 2 weeks. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif
Youre right. I doubt I would even notice a difference. What did you use for the pins with that mod? ORIGINAL: stussman It takes away the tuning option but stops it falling apart.
