Okay...I'm getting a MBX5T Prospec and was wondering how should I set it up how durable it is and if there are any aluminum a arm upgrades for it!
Also what bodies fit it and the size of the wheels hexes....
I got a sweett deal on a roller for $150

5T's are tough to say the least, There's For sure Multiple item's that will make the truck even more durable in the end.

For starter's You Do Not want aluminum arms, They are overly heavy and will transfer any force that would normally break a Stock arm Right to your pivot blocks which Stock are plastic and in desperate need of upgrading. http://kingheadz.com/ should have every part you could want for this machine.

Wheels and tires you are looking at anything 3.7 which are the taller truggy tire Vs the Older MT style Monster truck tires with fat side walls. 17mm for the hex and the 5T's run a Zero Offset wheel ( Hex mounts Flush to the face of the wheel )

Proline or AKA would be choices. here's a variety

It doesn't really need anything to be durable, it's already stronger and more durable than you should ever need it to be.
They are very tough, resilient and take a fair bit of abuse.

Cool, the truck actually arrived yesterday and it looks damn good...Similar to my ST1 in design so I know its strong but built with precision machined parts!

Is it possible to mount a Losi 427 Spin Start engine on a MBX5T Prospec?

K_B 06-08-2011 09:38 AM

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

You'll need taller RTR-style engine mounts to raise the engine up and clear the flange on the spin-start mechanism. You could also just shim the engine up using spacers on the Mugen engine mount but that won't be as strong.

unfortunately your never going to find a RTR type engine mount for a Mugen as they do not exist....The demand for one would be slim and none as most people would consider going that route to be a downgrade........However with some dremel work and some creativity a pullstart engine can be fitted to the stock mount.....

A two-piece mount won't work on the Mugen? I know Mugen doesn't do any sort of RTRs (one of the reasons I switched to Mugen) but I've done it on other brands with that exact motor. I was thinking you might be able to use Losi 8 RTR mounts, but because Losi uses that oddball clutchbell, the engine might sit too far back to use a standard clutchbell.

Personally, I find it rather sacriligious to put a pullstart/spin-start on a race-bred Mugen :)

Can't I just do this?

I missed that earlier. That might work. You might have to remove more material and use more washers underneath. I think the spin-start flange is a little bigger than the pull-start types.

the Losi mount may work, but you would have to machine the Mugen chassi to accept the Losi bolt pattern.... these engine mounts are not universal...

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

Thanks guys, I ended up just getting a backplate and starter box for my truggy. In fact I love the truggy so much I picked up a second brushless version to race the same platform in two classes next season.
The motor that I'm looking to get, actually two motors, is between the Team Orion Alpha .24 truggy engine or a Clockworks Argus A52 .21.
If I get the .24 I'm going to send it in for the Clocked treatment anyway.
I appreciate the help and suggestions guys, I'm hooked and feel this will definitely hold me down for a couple race seasons until a MBX7T comes out

Here are my MBX5T's one brushless one nitro!
Brushless has Tekno Chassis and Tekin T8 1550kv setup
Nitro I am running Alpha A352 .23 Truggy, actually it still hasn't been opened still in plastic, what's in it now is a Losi 427 with a backplate of course.
I love these truggies hands down so durable and nimble!http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...Picture023.jpg

Hey alli just got a.mbx5t and i have everything but tires i see a huge slection but what tire size and rim id best for long life and still have some goood traction

Question for the MBX5T owners. I know this thread is OLD.... ;) I hope somebody can help me out. Picked up a old MBX5T to more or less restore/ refurbish it. Can the chassis from a MSRX5-T conversion kit be used in place of the MBX5T chassis? I wasn't sure if the two were interchangeable.
Thanks.....
