RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I guess I'm the "odd man" out. I've never had a problem with a failsafe and I use a cheap one - by Duratrax. I've never even had so much as a glitch because of the failsafe, but I have been saved by it - one time so far so I figure mine have already paid for themselves.
I just had another thought. If, God forbid, someone did do serious personal or property damage with a nitro RC vehicle and did not have a failsafe, could your homeowner's insurance company declare you negligent - or at least assign you a percentage of negligence? Hmmmmmm..... |

Start point for Shock oils and Diff oils.
Going to be putting my ST PRO together this weekend. What shock and diff oils are a good starting point. I will be on a tight technical track made of clay. Was going to use 7/10/5 F/C/R for the diff oils. Shock oils I am at a bit of a confused. I have seen 30 to 60? Any suggestions. Regards, Alvin |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
i havent built my shocks yet either but im thinkin maybe starting with 40 front 35 rear..

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ORIGINAL: droidswarm ORIGINAL: herb99 ORIGINAL: droidswarm Still (slowly) continuing with my build... just dropped the centre diff in and have a question When I turn the centre diff with my thumb the front drive shaft occasionally catches and wont spin (while the back one continues to turn without problem). Have I made a mistake or is this normal? It may well not be a problem when the engine is proporly running. Do I need to take the front diff apart to investigate? Cheers ORIGINAL: j_blaze if you mean the front, its 9 screws total, 6 i the front and two below (front two) then the bottom screw of one of the shocks so the cvd's slide out. takes about 5 minutes by hand. (I dont have the shocks in yet so wont need to worry about the last part) |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
yes, the rear half of the case stays on with the shock towers, watch below the aluminum top plate the rear holder with the two nuts may fall off if it doesn't have the screw on in the middle.

ok...fail safe ..get a throttle return spring..you cant go wrong..i run one with my spektrum just to be sure...
spektrum..mine is a dx2.0.. love the thing...no issues and i even turn it off and on while running just to test the built in failsafe..i get massive range..atleast 200 mtres...other side of a footy oval no problems...but at that distance its a black dot running around over there... dif oil,, i use 5r 30c 7f..works great no front only balooooning just allround balooooning :) shocks im useing 60 wt all round with the pistons drilled to 1.4 mm..handles nice.. diffs easy to take out..front or rear..there designed to be easy to get to.. as for running ya cars in the streets and parks and stuff , just remember that ***** happens so lookout for kids/cars etc ..use ya brains..tell kids/ppl to stand back.. |

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ORIGINAL: jaywax Got the Go Tech 5 Port Turbo yesterday. I have ran about 1/4 gallon through it so far. It looked pretty good at practice last night. I am running the 13t cb and the 007ht pipe. I need all the torque I can get on our track. I will be racing it today and will post update later. p.s. I talked with a Mugen guy and he suggested I put 20k in my center diff. I only had 30k, so I am going to try it out. I have 7k/30k/3k (spider diff). Hope I did not make a big mistake. |

ORIGINAL: spikeitaudi Congrats looks good. What Diff and SHock oils did you use? Building mine this weekend. And 40wt all round for the shocks. I have read that with the centre spider diff's add about 2k thickness onto what ever weight you are putting in. Something about the extra 2 gears adding more resistance. For example if you want your spider diff to be 10K in thickness then put 8k in. Anyone else know about this theory? |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
herb99,
Nice lookin' build! Simple but elegant looking paint job! |

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ok, i got the hyper 8.5 c-hubs with 18, 20 and 22 degree adjstments. what does this angle on the steering do. i started with the 18 degrees and it looks like the outside tire turns way more than the inside tire. i'll have to see how it goes on the track. i just had to mod the inside of the arm so it would reach full down travel, the c-hub was rubbing a bit.
i'm still running the 10kish, 20kish, 3k oil combo and it is running great, we have a tight technical track with lots of turns and braking, definitely works here. with the lighter oils the tires were ballooning a lot in the front and was slow on acceleration, compared to now, also the push on-power seems to be reduced. need more track time to make sure, been off the wheel a couple weeks, rained all night last night too so it will take a couple hours work to get the track ready on saturday. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
You guys know if the stock PRO pipe is a high torque pipe or mid to high pipe. Am looking at putting a axial .28RR in it or my Caster K8T when it comes in and might use this pipe.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
im running 5/5/2 diff oils. shocks im running #150f and #350r mugen oils.im thinking of putting in 20k in my centre diff.
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I believe the pipe is a 2059, at least that's what hyper 8 buggy pipe is, i'm thinking it could be the same.

Yay! finally cracked the gearbox open.
Cant see anything immediatley wrong which would cause the CVD to stop? Can your expert eyes spy the problem? How do I tell if its shimmed right? Cheers |
