RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Hey thanks!!.. Well, I just ordered a new one..
There really isn't enough sticking out to get a grip on..- and what there is is flimsy and changes form easily.. But you inspired me anyway to try heating it again - this time for longer.. I was also kind of hoping there was a nice one-piece mount out there somewhere.. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ORIGINAL: spikeitaudi Ghost Rider oh I mean J_blaze :), did you have to make any mods to the towers or anything. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Well I was never able to get that screw out..., and in the end ruined the whole thing by trying to drill it out..
Sssoo, can anyone confirm that the Hyper 7 or 8 or 8.5 mount will also work on the ST?? Thanks.. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
The Hyper 7 mounts are exactly the same. The Hyper 8 mounts are different, but better, if you use them, then you will need to dremel the chassis to elongate the mounting holes.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Got the pro kit built, and put an engine I had in my Muggy in it. Used small collars to raise it up so backplate would clear chassis. Not working very well. Keep losing gear mesh. Need a pull start engine that will fit the pro. I only bash, so .21 to .30 would do.
LRP. and O.S. have served me well on past cars and M.T.'s As much as this kit cost, why doesn't it come with one piece engine mount? Had a 2 piece on my Muggy and it was an un-mitigated design of a stupid or drunk Losi engineer. Any help would be appreciated. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I know your problem well.. I'm also running a Mach engine from a Muggy..
The problem is 2 things - the stupid Hyper mount, but also the Mach backplate, which is just ridiculously big.. You must have a ridiculous number of washers to make it fit... Basically, these are your options: 1.) Go with a starterbox.. This is what I did.. I only use my Hyper for the track though, so the whole starter box hassle is just part of the deal.. For bashing I understand though - boxes can be kind of dumb.. The Mach is an awesome engine IMO.. To do this you need part number SWK8057 (type it in at www.amainhobbies.com , and you'll find it..), and yeah, the box with batteries.. The closed backplate bolts right up, no modding, and then your Mach will fit the engine mount perfectly... 2.) Convert to rotostart. You can do this - theoretically - with the rotostart backplate for the XTM 247 engine.. I have this backplate too, but have never tried it..(And don't think I ever will.. My LRP OWB is slipping like crazy - and it gets annoying..) 3.) Get a new engine.. LRP Spec 3, Picco 28, etc have smaller pullstart backplates than the Mach.. I made a Picco fit, but it still needed washers.. Anyway, my advice is just do the starter box.. It's kind of a pain to transport, but ultimately it does eliminate the hassles of a pullstart - it breaking, or a slipping one-way bearing.., and is just all around more reliable.. You'll get a few more RPM's out of that Mach too.. Then later, when you replace the Mach, you'll have many more engine options, cuz most engines nowadays are for starter box anyway.. Good luck.. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I totally agree, once you get a starter box, you will never go back to other methods, bashing or racing. The engines perform better than pull start units due to less rotational mass and friciton.
The LRP Z28R Spec 3 Truggy is an awesome engine and if you bashing, probably one of the best options, my mates Hyper ST with this engine was pulling wheelies down the straight on the track at will, hehe. For racing, not great though as they are quite thirsty. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Hey, I need a really really fast reply here. This was asked above but at a quick glance i dont think anyone answered.
Are there any motor mounts other than the hobao ones which fit the hyper st? Cheers Adam |

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
ahh didnt see that. thanks very much indeed!

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
The kings headz mount for the hyper 8/8.5 would work but there is a slight modification that involves using the dremel in order to get them to fit properly. Two of the holes have to be dremeled out slightly and it should work fine.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
how much do the holes need elongated by? and does anyone have pics of this mod?
Cheers Adam |

Any ideas? Has to be the fuel filter right. |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
No prob. Let us know how it works out.. I'm not a fan of dremelling(having a cheapo bat-powered piece of junk.., and little patience..), but if I have one more problem with the stock mount I might consider it..
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I really don't understand the tank complaints. My Mach runs like a freakin' Swiss watch.. Climbs steadily to 210-220, and stays there no matter what I do, or how long, or what.. - and though rich, still gives me 10 minutes plus...

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
right, gonna order some stock mounts incase, and some hyper 8 ones for experimenting. Didnt finish a single race last day cause of engine mounts so anything is acceptable now!
|
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Well if this doesn't happen at first, but only develops after a while, wouldn't that suggest it's not the tank, but the filter or something else wearing out or going bad or something??
When I first built my ST Pro, I did think the tank was awfully wobbly, but was just told that's normal, and yeah, performance-wise I can't complain.. Yet... |
RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Its been doing it since day one. Just as the weather is changing temps lower and humidity is lower it is doing it more and more. I don't think the bubbles are helping either.
Here are some pics of my custom tank posts. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...kMounts005.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...kMounts004.jpg |

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
I think if you get an 8 mount, you want the Kingz Headz easy mount, or?? That stock mount prob isn't a whole lot better than the ST Pro mount..

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!
Oh yehh just a wee note for ya's i came 7th in the GRP IRISH CHALLENGE with my hyper st!!! (7th was last place)
haha 50% driver failure 50% engine failure. |
