RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

What brand of servo's can you use with the included servo horns? The plastic and the alu one. I know they'll fit Futaba, but do they also accept other brands? What servo's are you guys running in the Truggy? Need to find some servo's for my car.
Budget: brake/throttle servo ~$40 and steering servo ~$100, but less is better:), unless the specs arent that good. Thanks

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

I can tell you they will not fit the JR's. That is what I am running. I have a JR 9000s and 9000t in mine. I think the Hitec's might work as the spline numbers are the same.

Hmm ok then.. And how about the Ace servo's from Thunder Tiger/ Associated? Like the popular ACE DS1015?

@ spikeitaudi: So you're using different servo horns than the ones in the kit. How long are the horns you use/ in the kit, one inch?

If i'm getting a Futaba is this a good choice?:
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-ser...Path=1099_1030

And for the steering i'll get something simple like this one: http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-ser...Path=1099_1030

I am using the Dynamite Platinum Pro linkages.

Don't cheap out on the Steering servo. The more Torque the better. I would go cheaper on the Throttle/brake servo then the Steering.

DS1015 for steering and DS1313 for throttle is one of the best steering/throttle setup you can have

Oh sorry, I didn't write that correctly. I'm going to use the expensive one on the steering and the cheaper one on the throttle/brake.
But are the ones I listed ok?

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

the ace is a fenomenal servo, the tower pro not so much, its gonna give up soon, when it does get the 1015 then and throw it up front. no looking back after that. i would not use the "cheeper" servo in throttle cause when it goes bad your car may be gone into something or someone. not that the ace wouldn't fail but i've had mine about a year now, no issues. the 1313 is a really good steering servo, the 1015 is only slightly better all around.

I agree with that as well. But if it dies your failsafe or your throttle return spring should takecare of a runaway.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

Dynamite Pro linkage is great it comes with different spline numbers to match what ever servo you have.

What body is that HerrSavage? Looks great on the ST. Did you have to do much modification to make it fit?

redsteal92 08-26-2008 03:37 AM

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

i agree with j_blaze i had a towerpro for throttle and brake. Once i was driving on a parking lot my gas reacts very slow and holds throttle for a while and after i was back home the servo died so i stopped at the right moment because i had no failsave and if i didn't stop my car had hit a truck [X(]. So just buy some ace's i did that too and you have a good combo of servo's and they are very fast and strong. (sorry if my English is bad)

@ Redsteal, do the servo horns fit on the Ace servos?

Gotta love that red body. What's the name of the body? Is it the Kyosho ST-RR High flow body from Jconcepts?

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

@echelon lol ook nederlander ja and the hobao horns will fit on the ace servo's:D;)

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

I think he said that was the Jconcept body.

HerrSavage 08-27-2008 12:10 AM

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

Thanks. It's the Jconcepts body for the Mugen MBX5T.. In general, most bodies for the Mugen fit the Hyper.. It fits pretty well without mods, but it's a tad snug around the pipe.. Makes me think though, maybe my pipe is just sitting too high.. I'll have to check...

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

what shock/damper set-up do you guys run in the Hyper ST's?
- what pistons?
- How much weight shock oil?
- what springs?

I think I'm going to change to: 4 piston hole (white color) and 35wt oil, is this a good set-up?
And if you want to run with the black pistons with 2 holes what oil do you use? cuz if you use the 2-hole the susp. setup is softer.

which springs fit on the shocks?

looking to buy a truggy! having a hard time trying to decide. so how bout you hyper st guys tell me the pros n cons of this truggy. i've read quite a bit of this thread and it seems that the main problems are braking issues, its a bit on the heavy side n thats about it. im not looking to do competitive racing just bashing n the occasional visit to the track for non competitve racing. im not a noob to nitro, but i will be a noob to truggys n 1/8 scale. right now i have a cheap 1/10 buggy which i am ashamed to name here lol. but its been a good experience, making a crappy car run and hold up pretty decent against the abuse.
