My buddy has almost a gallon on his, his pinch has finally tamed down a little so the box can actually turn it over,
he destroyed his flywheel having to pry it from TDC

He's not even broken in yet !!! you boys just wait till gallon 2 and that motor starts to really wake up..You guys have honestly only see a fraction of what that motor can do... Your using a 6.25 mm Mach carb and the motor still had full metal pinch............. 2 gallons and you loan him your 9 mm LRP carb then you can seee what a Jammin 28 is all about !!!!! that Mach carb will be taking a big chunk of HP away from that motor !

Hey Qaiz..So are you getting your hyper to the track tomorrow? You will enjoy the picco once it starts. Good luck!!!
Oh yeah!! That picco blew my mind compared to the SH .28 and Axial .28RR I have. It has so much torque and will smoke them in a heartbeat. I used to love my Axial and now it feels like a SLUG!!!

Now you see why I made the comments I did when people were insisting an Axial 28 was a viable competitor to a Picco 28 ..

I am glad you got it to turn over..What time will you be at nad al sheba? I want to see the picco run.

Well 4 3000mAH batteries later and no luck.

It started a few times but kept flaming out the second I lifted off the throttle. Anyone know the reason to this.?

I tried adjusting all the needles ( Idle, LSN, HSN ) and it was fine as long as you kept throttling it, but the second you let it go down a bit, no luck.

Im gonna try again during the week - Monday or Tuesday, and bought a gel cell today, and should be picking up another soon.

Anyone know why it kept flaming out.

Just a question . Where are the alignment posts for you starter box? I you didnt have them installed when you were trying to start your motor that could be part of you problem.

next time you get it started try leaving your glo starter on the glow plug and actually run the truck on the ground with the glow starter still connected for maybe 1/2 a tank ,one of my piccos acted the same way and leaving the glow starter on really helped

RE: Hyper/Picco .28 Massive Issues

I had to raise the idle up a good amount. If it got anywhere near the proper idle RPM it would die just like you are saying. I did that for 5 tanks then it got better and I could lower the idle.

RE: Hyper/Picco .28 Massive Issues

I tried leaving the glow starter on the entire time, changed the plug twice, and still nothing. I messed around with my idle screw as much as I humanely could ( was in fear of severealy doing something wrong ) .

As for the alignmelt posts, im not using them, just the box itself. The motor started, quite a few times, but the minute I took it off the box and let off the throttle, it flamed out [&:]

Im just waiting on my gel cell to charge up completely, then Im gonna give it one last try for the day. Ill turn the Idle screw up a bit more, right now its screaming.

And I just signed up for a race on Thursday [&:], Lord knows how Im gonna make it for that.!

Thanks guys, will keep you posted within the hour on how it goes.

Sounds like have the needles set too rich.......as well no need to keep switching plugs....those plugs are very good and will last a very long time... If your drowning plugs you need to lean the motor down and by alot.... set the idle gap for 1 mm...then lean the motor down till it will run....

Best bet is to get the motor fired, hold the trigger half throttle, then have someone adjust the HSN till the motor starts to run clean,,,most likely 1/2-3/4 turn on the HSN from factory... then let the motor idle down..if it dies then you need to lean down the LSN..

sounds to me like you were to scared to lean the motor down.. If a motor will not idle its running way too rich. lean the LSN and the HSN to get it too run well.... you can always richen it back up once you get it running.. Factory settings mean nothing, do not be scared to lean em down........ usually i will go very lean to get a motor to start running, I will then hold the trigger open and richen the HSN till i can hear its rich.... same goes for the LSN, start her up lean ( race tune even) then just richen her up once its running..

DO not, and I repeat do not crank open your idle screw..that is not the answer, and will cause even further stalling if the LSN is too rich..set the gap for 1-1.2 mm tops..turn the LSN not the idle screw.... Do not be afraid of the needles, even adjust em while its running....

As well putting ARO into the motor will mess up the glowplug and make the motor a bear to start...ARO doesn't like burning nice..so if you were using ARO to lubricate the motor you were causing yourself much more grief then was needed..I never use ARO period !!!! the rustiest motors I have seen were the ones using ARO....you live in a desert ARO is not needed and is a waste of time !! light machine oil is much better for storage....

I don't use alignment post with my hyper box either. They are such a waste.

sounds like you need to open up the throttle a little more and lean the hsn out half a turn from factory then try.

Dubai is an amazing place to shop I got some family there they live in ras al khaima. I'll be sure to race ya if I go down there for visit.

i'd put the alignment post on. it will help you SOOOOOOOOOOO much!
which box do you have? I've the ofna chrome top I still haven't figured out how the alignment posts work yet. For right now I've it set so that my flywheel is right atop the rubber wheel and the posts are touching hte front of the truck. Seems to me that this box is a little short of st-1. either that or i've it setup wrong.

Another good thing to check is to make sure the starter wheel isnt hitting the chassis cut out for the flywheel. I had to round out the cutout with a dremel on my mbx5t and JT hybrid so they wheel would make full contact.

Well 10,000 mAH later and still no go last night.

I did manage to get half a tank through. I have still yet to open the idle a bit more [&:]. If it goes near the idle speed, thats it, flames out. Its already pretty much screaming at the moment.!

I was planning on using the alignment posts, and then decided against it, and yupp the starter wheel is directely on the flywheel.! There is so much pinch in this engine, its un-real.

Ill be giving it another go today, hopefully some improvement then.

Thanks Guys

I Have some duratrash one that I use for my 1/10 buggy. I tried it by just going for it but took 10 mins to get it right. put the posts on and it made it 10 times better just throw it on and bam started.

Nah forget the alignment posts, I have no idea how to get the damn things on.

I got through exactly 3 tanks and I ran outta Nitro [:@]

Just shows, never let your friends borrow Nitro [:@]

Ah well, THIS ENGINE IS INSANE.!

That SH .28 was like a snail ( No offnense owners ) compared to this.!! [&:]

Lord this thing gets off the line quick, im still running it rich, but yeah.!

Im gonna pick up some more Nitro, get a gallon or 2 through this by Wednesday, and race it on Thursday :D

I can garuentee it that this WILL destroy my drive-train, the power is just un-real.!

ericem 03-16-2008 09:21 AM

RE: Hyper/Picco .28 Massive Issues

Wouldn't destroy the drivetrain in my St-1 LOL.

I said to myself maybe I shouldn't go there, but then I just went for it! I went for it!!!!!
