RE: Heinkel HE 72 build
Casey this is what the clevis looks like, this is a really big one and the aluminum actuator rod is 3/16 threaded for 4 40. Apparently I have both metric and Standard threads in these clevises. The smaller units I used on the ME ailerons are 3mm and I had to silver solder the 3mm to a 2 56 pushrod but there isnt that much stress even at speed, not like elevators for sure.

RE: Heinkel HE 72 build
I have started to cover the wings after a few weeks of getting my Super Chipmunk ready to fly.
The gloved leading edge on the wings was done with balsa, when I got to the center section I decided it would look better done in fliteskin, replicating the actual center section metal covering. I used .007 fliteskin and applied that with Pliobond contact cement, basicly I applied the bottom first because it is flat and has the mounting tabs for the cabine struts. Once that was secure I simply applied the contact cement to the rest of the structure and rolled it right around the leading edge.
Today I will get the wiring done for the wing tip lights and then cover the center and my right wing panel and start to do some rib stitch replicating what was done in the 30's. Scale rib stitch made up some 1/4 inch spaced material for me to use in the prop blast area. The first two stitches on each wing panel were also at the 1/2 interval, 1/4 inch on a 1/4 scale airframe, followed by the standard 1/2 inch spacing.

RE: Heinkel HE 72 build
Hi Casey: Well I have finished the paint work on my 1/4 scale Aerona Razorback, my Speedster and am now building the Struck Boomer Bus from Oct 1940 Air Trails Magazine. Boy they had to really work hard in those days, the fuselage is 1/8 inch balsa soaked and rolled onto a broom stick, then removed glued and a 3/16 keel is shoved down the middle of that as the stiffener. The Boomer is based on the Bowlus Baby Albatros. Jerry Nelsons dad and Harley were very much leaders in the sailplane world after the war. 22 oz all up with 57 inch double gull wing. How they did all this with model airplane cement is beyond me, super glue is even a pain in places. Ordered some silk for this and it is terribly expensive to get the Japanese stuff from Brodak but this wouldn't look good in anything but dope.

The lights are all in and center section is done, used G10 to replicate the aluminum in that are. Starting to rib stitch now. I need to order a qt of nitrate black from Acft Spruce to get this thing into silver quickly.
