RE: Composite ARF P-47 Updates?
couldn't find the retract price!
Looks like the web has $3290 for the plane (only comes in an ARF version: gel silver, razor back).
Also, couldn't find if it's a 3-piece wing in the description.
Looking at the wing pictures, it appears to be a one piece wing (possibly two piece jointed at the center for ease of transportion). With the flaps being so large on the P-47, a three piece wing would have a very wide center section.
The flap hinges look pretty complex.
Web shows a sliding canopy but no mention if this is a stock option.
Just found this:
Canopy frames are also molded in two part molds, reinforced with a 3D-frame, which allows the scale sliding canopy mechanism to be installed (optional).
Looking at the pictures, I'd say the canopy is set up for 'sliding' but you have to cut into the fuse sides to install the rails and mechanism that you fabricate.

RE: Composite ARF P-47 Updates?
I was looking at their website. What does this mean..."A scale landing gear with pneumatic extending main struts, compression link for shortening during retraction" The real P-47 did not have any hydraulic extension. The real one did have a compression link to shorten the gear as it retracted. Are they planning on pressurizing the strut.. They are just asking for problems.. Eventual air leaks and little to no spring action to strut with full air tank.. very rigid on airframe????

RE: Composite ARF P-47 Updates?
I think the wording is just unclear. I believe they just mean they retract via air and have a shrink bar. If they are using Daryl's gear like the F4U, there will not be a problem. I have see his scale P-47 gear with shrink bar and it is impressive.

RE: Composite ARF P-47 Updates?
$3290 - Ouch!!!!! Not saying it is not worth it but for $600 more, I can have a Comp-Arf Spitfire (1090), P-51 (1190), and a plug-in wing Corsair kit (1695). I think I will wait for the kit which should come in around $1600.
I have the Corsair and am just finishing up the Spitfire. I was waiting for the Razorback to come out before I decided between it and the P-51 for my next project. Will definitely be the P-51........ I don't want another 10K plane like the Corsair......
Just my 2c

RE: Composite ARF P-47 Updates?
The plane looks nice! Very detailed,,, panel lines, rivets, deutz fasteners,,, u name it!
My only question........ they say its an ARF so,,, does that mean it is painted also as in the
photos? Yellow Aircraft produced ARF versions of their P-47 and P-40s. Those ARFs were painted
much like you would buy and ARF that was covered with iron on film before leaving the factory.
The Silver Gelcoat version sure looks bland until you doll it up with paint and weathering LOL
This P-47 looks like a winner in my book. By the time you add engine {Radial} and retracts you could have
yourself a $7,000 bird on your hands.

RE: Composite ARF P-47 Updates?
Hi Paul,
I have the Composite ARF P51, with a "dizzy" 80 in it, flys great. You do not need the highest end servos for this P51 nor power boxes etc. I am running JR 2700 NMH bats and an 8 chan receiver. It is all pretty simple. Might be able to get into this for about 4 K. I know what you mean about the Corsair, as we have been chatting. I will have about 8K into the Corsair. Yep, looking at the P47 that would be a 10K to 12K bird. Yikes. The Corsair is a big enough for me, yikes.

RE: Composite ARF P-47 Updates?
I have been researching possible colour schemes for the CARF P-47 Razorback. I found an interesting one flown by the late
Lt. Harold G. Stalnaker of the 366FS/358FG, who was KIA on December 23 1944 while flying a combat mission during the
Battle of the Bulge.
http://www.google.no/imgres?imgurl=h...26tbs%3Disch:1
This is the same FS/FG that Lt. Ike Davis flew his P-47D "Tarheel Hal" with (Top Flite Giant Scale P-47D), and the colour schemes
of the two aircraft have many common features, for instance the orange tail and the red/yellow cowling.Stalnaker's plane had
olive drab painting on the fuselage, while Tarheel Hal has a much more flashypaint job. Davis's plane was flown a little later in
the war than was Stalnaker's, and the Allied air superiority at the time was overwhelming. Hence the needfor efficient camo-schemes
justwasn't there.
However, I have not been able to find much in the way of documentation on the particular colourscheme of Stalnaker's plane (for
F4H competition purposes). Does anyoneout there know where I can find this? I have heard about some publications on the colors
of the358FG, but have not been able to find anything. Anylead on the issue wouldbe much appreciated.

RE: Composite ARF P-47 Updates?
All I can say is wow!!!!!!!!!! Very nice planes, but I don't think I would enjoy sleeping with it, as that is what my wife would tell me to do if I got one.... If i win the lottery tonight, I will have a whole fleet of them ASAP!
