I have acquired a Bert Baker Zero that is partially built. Everything looks good except the canopy, it has yellowed from age.
Do any of you know where I could get a replacement? Or am I going to have to make a new one? Yellow Aircraft told me that the new Zero canopy would not fit. I did not think to ask if I could modify it to fit. Any one else try this?
TIA

Hi Brian... dont even know if this will help or
not but if your kit is around 1/8th scale, Topflite still has a replacement canopy for the Hollywood Zero (at6 converted to a zero) . Seems like it was around 10 bucks or so . You may want to go to their website and do a search. Hope this helps if its the size your looking for.

John,
Thanks for the suggestion but mine is a 1\5th scale. I appeciate that you did try.
Vic,
Yes, mine is the 80" model. When I called Yellow today I asked them if their canopy would fit and the exact responce was, "No, it's different." That was all I got from him. Like you, I still can't picture it being that much different. What can they do to the canopy on a same size model. I might buy it and see if I can make it work. Do you know if the Yellow has a sliding canopy and maybe it mounts differently. I was totally at a lost when I heard him say that. Just kinda sat there with my mouth opened.
Thanks

beedub.. one difference I can think of is that the old canopies were one peice affairs and the new ones have a fiberglass frame and the canopy which fits inside of that. I would order one (both parts) and get it to fit. You might need to do some fitting... but I can't imagine it not being suitable at all????.. BobH.

Hi Brian, I to have a Bert Baker Zero. The Baker Zero was a one peice canopy. The difference is the Yellow is just a little smaller.I put one on mine after my son dropped who knows what? you know where. Anyway they look just fine if you take your time cutting the old one off. Be sure to have the Yellow one in hand before you begin to cut, as they are smaller and you will have to leave some of the old canopy intact. I have never had anyone even notice, that it is smaller. Take care Capt. Winters PS> My old canopy was glued on.

Thanks for all the help and recommendations guys. Since I still have other work to do to it, I may wait and see how bad it looks on the plane. If it isn't going to work I can always go with the Yellow Aircraft canopy.
Looking at it last night I was about to get upset. I noticed that he blocked the wingtips on it. So I jumped up and grabbed my book and then saw what he was doing. He turned it into a A6M3 series 32. Now I see where he was going with it, it looks pretty cool.
Thanks again
P.S. Capt. Winters, do you have any pics of your plane?

Hi Brian, You can find some pictures at this web site. www.sccmas.org Click the multimedia gallery, then click photo gallery, and then Thrilling moments. You will see my Zero and click the picture to enlarge. It takes a moment to download. Other than that I could send some through the mail. Pm me if you want the pictures through the mail. Take care Capt. Winters
