Auch!! Why did he pull this bird so hard?
The Kit is from Andreas Engel from Modellbau Engel, it is currently not available because he is reworking to have a full gfk wing. The older kits have styro-abache wings.
It is way bigger and has the value of 4 ESM do's. The ESM is perfect size for me, it might just fit in my car.
I see the original ESM landing gear is version 4 now:

Would this be recomandable or still no good?

I would love to see how version 4 is going. All the versions prior (as I have heard) wound up stripping the gears. Anyone out there using them and for how long?
Everyone uses the surge the electrical system sees when the gear hits the end. Some just leave it there and this puts quite a strain on the gears. I know the Electron gear slightly back-off thus releasing all the tension. With the v3 some people put a rubber bumper at the end of travel so there was less stress. This made them last longer but they failed.
I would love to see someone setup a system to stop prior to hitting the end. Maybe an IR sensor or they could allow it to be setup counting the turns of the motor. Unless someone does that your gears will always need to be stronger than necessary just to bring up the gear.

Finally today she arrived, never had so much plane for my €€€€.
and she looks great and solid. Only the inside looks like it has been assembeled by a monky, but I don't care about that because I will have to change everything to fit my special setup.
I'm a very happy person :-)

Does anybody here have a crashed Do335 for parts?
My brand new box is missing the bottomhatch @ the back.
Tried to contact both ESM and the shop where I bought it, but no reply.
If someone would have this part I would gladly buy it.
Regards Johan

The last days I started on the tail section.
I had to cut in the original bulkheads to make space for the jet pipe, I also had to cut away the centerpiece of both the tubes. To keep the rigidity intact I had to do a lot of reinforcing, but she is defenetly as strong as she was before.

I have ordered the flitemetal I want to use to cover the upperside of the plane with today, when it arrives I will give it a try on the big hatch behind the canopy. If this works out, and I am sure I can do the whole plane, I will cut away the back carb intake and close the back scale exhausts. The front carb intake will be opened, not to give air to the turbine who can thake plenty of air from the big cut out for the nosewheel, but to cool the jet pipe as much as possible. The same goes for the radiator inthake.
At the back end, behind the tail I wil make 2 square openings under the jetpipe to let the air out that can not pass the holes around the jetpipe.

Breaking my head wich retracts to buy.
Really like the electrons, but I want brakes and elektric brakes are no good. So if I need air for the brakes I can use pneumatic retracts anyway.
I see Sierra and Robart make complete sets without the wheels, what size of wheels can I use If I would buy one of these. I see Robart makes electric retracts now, that seem to be no good I read in some reviews. If asked, would they still make them pneumatic?

Hi snauwaertj,
Following along and enjoying your build !! The Electron Brakes seem very impressive. Why don't you care for electric brakes?

Have had failures with electric brakes previously?

Hello Joe, 2 friends of me have electric brakes on their avanti Jets.
the braking power is less than 50% compared to pneumatic ones.
And even if I wanted to use elektrics, they only go up to 100mm, I need 130mm.
Another problem would be the legs, I have looked around and I can not find anything usable.

Thanks Johan,
I've never played with or even seen braking systems other than when looking at various retract systems web sites. Interesting.
Electrons gyro guided differential system looks really cool but I have no real feel for what is good, needed, or usable when it comes to brakes.
Keep up the photos, I'm watching and learning !!

Thank you guys, would love to see that video Ram-bro.
The last days I have been working on the fuselage. Made the cut out for the 35cc NGH rear exhaust, this engine sticks out only a little bit and the exhaust system stays inside completly. The Krumscheid 4 chamber cannister with all the neccesary tubing also arrived.
I cutted out a big hatch @ the bottomside behind the engine to give me some workingspace for the cannister, the ignition and the choke-throtle servos.
Arount the back dummy-exhausts there was a litlle square part standing up around them. Because there are no more back exhausts I wanted this removed to have a nice flat panel. When I started grinding this I noticed I was weakening the fuselage a lot. So to give it more strength again I laminated a piece of 200gram Carbon over the hole length off the fuselage inside, a piece off 6mm depron on top off this and then again some Carbon. The backsides are like concrete now.

Just now seeing your posting of the DO 435 – Sweet!
I had the same idea since 2011; told ONLY one RCU member: Jimkron. Jim, thanks for keeping my secret a secret Jim and I finally met up at Warbirds Over Delaware 2011; good man and almost as Kool as me .
I had planned to debut my Secret Weapon: DO 535 (not 435) in 2012 but for medical reasons I did not. In post #359 I stated with photos that my front engine was going to be a DLE 55 and a Syssa 30 in the rear. In post #360, Jim jokingly said “Hmm...something does not look right on Mr. DJ's rear.” That’s because he knew a turbine would be the rear engine and that I was just tricking everyone until I debuted it. Now that you, Johan are creating one, I may get re-excited and finish mine.
Nonetheless, let me Congratulate you on your project; can’t wait to see her fly. And if I can assist somehow, just hit me.
