So does anyone have a idea how many rivets would be on T.F. P47giant ?
I was watching a WWII era training film for the P-47, and low and behold, the instructor mentioned that there is 105,895 rivets in the P-47. Many of these would be internal, I assume. So not as many on the exterior as I had thought.

One thing to keep in mind with the Corsair is that the airframe was not riveted. The Corsair was spot welded. Scott
Scott, are you sure about that?
A little more evidence.

The rivets which I sent out the past month were 0.100 inch rivets.

After trial and testing - finally the rivets are up for sale now.

The available sizes are:

0.095 inch
0.090 inch
0.085 inch
0.080 inch
0.075 inch
0.070 inch
0.065 inch

The top row in the frist picture shows the size which I sent out 38000 of them. Now I'm capable to cut them to the tiny size of 0.065 inch. For the guys who are not sure which one is right for their warbird - You can order a sample of the 7 sizes and make your decision based on the sample (Pic two).

Nice idea with the sample pack Pete. I think that will be very helpful to many builders. Good stuff.

It is always hard to judge from these closeup pictures the actual size. My goal was to develop a fast and simple system to replace the burning with the soldering iron.

If "goal was to develop a fast and simple system to replace the burning with the soldering iron" then you succeeded!

Thank you, good job.

So Pete I was wondering, for a 1:5.4 ( or 5.5) scale what size would I need for a Me 109?
I have ZERO idea how large the flush rivets on the real thing was. thats samples I got from
you are the right size for the wing root(s), which obviously are larger the the paneling ones.
well at least from original photos I've seen. thanks.

Assuming 0.375 inch (3/8) average size rivets 70 years ago is a good starting point - IMO. That would lead in the case of a 1:5.4 scale airframe to 0.069", which would be the 0.070" inch rivet in the selection. Then for the larger rivets use the ones you already have.

There are more of these larger rivets on the underside of the wing and on the tail. Besides that, the 109 is fairly easy to panel and rivet. This light weight fighter had, compare to allied fighters, way less rivets.

thank you Sir. question: are you going to make the ZU fastners as well? I know some were flush and some
were counter sunk, no problem though.. ( say in a 1:5.4 to start ) thanks again.

Pete,

When are you going to make the rivets for the 1/4 scale Warbirds? Are you planning on selling them soon?

Just curious,

I am going to be buying them for the fuse , you have to have the flush riviots and making them with a sodering iron will take a year lol .
My wing is done with regular glue , but the fuse can look corect with the flush rivits

G-Pete, pleasure ordering from you. Quick turnaround, I appreciate that. I should be in the shop right now putting them on. I am passing the word around.

Nice to see you around G-Pete, does this mean you finished the cobra?

Ya guys....he's building a race car!

Your rivets worked great too by the way, thanks.

Really happy how my YA P-47 razorback turned out. Ued 13,000 of Pete's rivets and Dzus fastenrs. Very easy to apply. took about 30 hours to do but worth it. During priming, painting and then going over the entire ship with 0000 steel wool only 1 rivet came off. Pete also supplied me the paint masks for the stars and bars. They worked great as well.

Very nice to work with Pete as he was very helpful.

I love your "G Spots' Pete. Used them on my Byron Mustang. They look better than the molded in ones.

G-Pete...I didn't realize you were selling these rivets now how much for a compleat set for the 1/8 scale
P-38M I'm sure you would know about how many and what size of each I would need to compleat my build
since you've beendown that road befor.

Did also read that you do stencils? If so I will need a set of those also for the Night Lightning & Stars and Bars
also the call letters no step etc.

Send me a PM w/ prices and details please,
Thank you,

Bruce
