Default Warbird Digest

If anyone gets this magazine, I would like to point you to two related articles in the Jan/Feb 2011 edition.

In October of last year, I drove my 89 year old dad to Indianapolis for a reunion with the pilot of the P-51 that my dad was the crew chief of. The reunion was made complete by a P-51 decked out in the original markings of their Mustang "Ain't Misbehivin".

That is just awesome. It's cool that they could reunite with their Mustang. Your dad and Capt. Frey are true American heroes!!

We actually only found out a few days prior to the trip. I was driving my dad from MN back to his home in Florida for the winter. We knew that the plane was recently done, but never expected to see it. Then dad was contacted by Jesse who told him that the plane would be in Indy that weekend. Well, since we were going to be driving nearby, we made a two-day detour to be part of the festivities!

As a side note, Jesse, Dad and I all got a ride!

I hope you took some really good photos of the plane you can post here. That would make an excellant subject for my P-51 when I get around to building it.

I am glad you dad and his pilot were able to get together!  There is a great video about a pilot and his P-51 reuniting on YouTube, but I can't remember the name of the plane.. (A senior moment, me thinks).

I think you are referring to the Grey Eagles Foundation P-51 named "February" and the pilot Jim Brooks reunited after 60 years. Here's the video: <span style="text-decoration: underline;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpsAaK0p0ig

I agree, awesome videos and thanks for sharing. The smile on your dad's face said it all.
