Default Take out the $$$$ factor and what would you build?

Well this should make for some fun, not to rattle things up like NCIS did, just some good reading...

If money wasnt a concern and for some, that might be the case, what would you build?

If you had the time and funds to build any RC plane you wanted, tell us about it...

For me it would be a giant Mustang P-51D, it would have to be bigger then 144" maybe 168", being I see some 144" birds being done already..So with the mind set of being the biggest and baddest, no comes the power plant..

I would find me a company to build me amotor that fit in the cowl, flies scale at half throttle and balls to the wall at full. Real scale exhausts is a must as well and turning a 4 blade pron non the less. Remembermoney is notan issue! Germany makes somepretty dang good stuff, but i like to keep the money in the USA so I might move a few families over to make my motor!! Why not, were high rolling on this one!

Every scale thing would be done and working, might hire the worlds best builders to joinin. I wouldmove themas well, if need be...

OK, lets here about your dream plane!!!!!

Nope, has to be RC......... Lets say that you couldn't get a PL due to a birth defect or something

I like the way you think Mk23socom! If money were not a limiting factor I would like to buy and restore some warbirds! Maybe try to find some like Pappy Boyingtons, etc. Granted, anything in the Pacific for this long would likely be beyond salvage so maybe I would try to locate the warbirds in the Great Lakes.

Well, if you through full-scale in then get me a P-51D for my commuter plane and a F-22 for my longer flights

It would be fun to zoom up next to a jumbo jet and escort them into an airport

They didn't say no full scale, just that it has to be RC. Is there such as thing as a full scale warbird that is RC?

Absolutely... The full scale B-17 that flew into the mushroom cloud of the atomic test bomb was completely radio controlled.

I think I would do a 1/3 scale Goose, like the one in The tales of the golden monkey. And the lake to fly it off too.

I think I'd build a CARF Corsair. Beautiful plane, but it gets pretty expensive by the time it is ready to fly. Then there is the whole storage and transport issue. That's what made me pass. I'd really like to see CARF come out with a second version around the size of the Ziroli. I think they would sell quite a few, even in this economy.

I'd also give R/C jets a try. I prefer my prop planes, but if money isn't an issue it would be a fun change of pace.

I would build a working scale Harrier jump jet, complete with a turbine engine and ducting that functions as the full scale. I think it would take a fairly sophisticated auto control system using a gyro for stability. It would be as scale as I could make it right down to the swivel nozzles, ducting and cockpit. I would want it to be at least 6' long, so there would be plenty of space to work with. Maybe even a little larger. This has been a dream of mine ever since I saw one in person at the Cleveland air show years and years ago. I think we are getting closer and closer to the technology and building materials needed.

This would take tons of $$$$ and probably 3 years of my life. Would be an interesting entry at Top Gun, though, don't ya think.

Now............................. I reluctantly return to reality. My WWII war bird fleet. This, I can do.

Good subject BTW.

15 foot P-40 from Ziroli blown up plans with all the best money can buy to go into it. I want someone to make me a fiberglass fuse and composite wing so all that I have to do is the fun stuff.

I believe this gentleman was 65 when he learned to fly, started this scaled down P-38 when he was 70, and took 15 years to design and build it. Maidened it in 09. !!!!!!!!!!
