Applying decals to a Top-Flite P-40E
I am having difficulty applying the sharks teeth decals to the cowl of a Top-Flite P-40E that I am building. The decals will not conform to the shape of the cowl. I get creases in the decal no matter how I position it. Has anyone run into a similar problem and if so do they have a solution? Also, does anyone know of a company that makes decals for this model?

I'm not familiar with that model, but if the decals are the water-slide type, then you should use a decal setting solution like Micro-Sol and/orMicro-Setto soften the decal. This would enable you to remove the wrinkle by gently stretching the decal only enough to flatten it completely against the surface. Ifthe decals arepressure sensitive, you might try soaking them for a few minutes in hot water...again to soften them only enough to stretch the wrinkles out. DON'T use a heat gun to warm the decal. The 300-400 deg heat would be difficult to control and would probably melt the decal. Good Luck, and post your results!

best way with those vinyl decals is to make relief cuts in them. if done with care, you'll never notice the cuts after
you put on the decal.
you put on the decal.

Can you take a photo of the graphic?
I can probably reproduce it quite easily, or I may even have it.
If I see what you're working with I can possibly provide suggestions?
"Decals" is printed ink on clear decal material. Designed to be soaked in water and "water slide" onto the model.
"Vinyl" on the other hand, is a material that can be applied dry if one wishes. Vinyl can except ink for printing or "opaque" vinyl, which already has the color when manufactured. Vinyl can also be applied wet.
There is a difference.
