Default Airworld FW-190 video

Here is a video I made of my friend flying an Airworld FW-190 with a Moki 250 at AMPS flying field in Phoenix Arizona.

Nice save! kept the damage to a minimal by going off the runway.

The sound of the Moki is incredible, I wish I could afford one and fit one in my 1/5 scale

Well...one way around the cost is going for a "glow" radial. Much lower up front cost, but fuel prices over time will add up. Not sure if the Siedel 90cc 9 cylinder would be big enough for a 1/5th scale or not.

Unfortunately I told myself 3 years ago I would never go back to glow, Mainly the mess is what keeps me away. Mine is the SisT, lurking at what will probably be around 30 lbs I am just going to use a G62. I am hoping in the future someday to have a 1/4 scale with a gas radial. But thank you for the thought.

Thanks for the video Wayne. Having the one gear come down at the last second sure saved the engine and solo prop. Thanks for your work on the landing gear blocks. The plane handled great on takeoff. We have almost all of the bugs worked out of the plane. It was very good on the ground and in the air. I was really suprised how nice the airplane rolls.

My Meister FW-190 has Sierra gear, but converted to electric by Down&lLocked. I refuse to rely on air anymore. The Butcherbird in the video was very lucky, that could have been disasterous. Check out downandlocked.com these guys know what their doing. the weight increase is hardly measurable, but the reliability is 10 fold.I wish I had the money for a Moki for mine, but the TMM-106 with a Mejzlik 25X12 threeblade ought to give my Butcherbird some performance. I hope to have it done by late spring.

Very nice save. I agree electric retracts is the way to go. The way fuel prices are going one day my glow fuel will be cheaper than gas. I'm sticking to glow, can't beat the smell- and the cleaning part is only half the fun.

Great video. But I have to ask, Why add the music? I my opinion it detracts from the overall video. To me, the sound of the Moki is music enough.

Glad the plane survived the problem with the gear.

Im in agreement with you. Although I like the cost of gasoline vs glow fuel and the need to use LESS fuel using a gas motor, I really, really hate the smell.
There are some planes I have with gasoline motors that I simply can't store inside the house(basement) because the wife says they stink too bad of gas.
On the other hand, any of the glow planes I have can be stored even in the next room and she's quite ok with that. She even likes the smell of glow fuel, especially when a motor is running(outside).
Transporting gas for planes is also an issue. I cannot keep it inside the vehicle(have SUV's) as there is no trunk or pickup bed to keep the smell from infiltrating the passenger area of the vehicle, even for the short 15 min drive to the field.
The only time I can fly gas planes is when I pull my self built trailer with me to the field.

I still wonder if that 90cc seidel 9 cylinder radial could fly this airworld 190. Kinda doubt it being 102" wingspan and 35+ pounds.
However, the Petrausch Fw-190 would be a good fit for the Seidel since its a 92" plane requiring a 60-110cc motor.

Of course...the SisT would also work well being only 82.5"

Thanks for the nice save comments, BUT it was just luck that the one gear dropped. The scuff on the wingtip was very minor.

Sweet!

And nicely flown.

Request: Scratch the play-over and let us listen to the "Radial Music"

How did you fit the 250 in the AirWolf?

My 215's valve lifters are poking holes in the cowl...all around.

If gasoline ever gets more expensive than glow fuel model airplanes will be the least of our worries.

The 250 is 11.22" wide, the 215 is 11.7" wide.

btw, I lived in Ames before I moved to AZ in 94.

From my four wheeler days, there are additives that add smell to gas and actually work good. I really liked the smell of the grape. Might be worth looking into for you? The stuff came from motorcycle supply companies.

I know alot of modelers that are alergic to gasoline smell. they use Coleman lantern fuel from Wally World. Theres little performance loss, but the kicker is no smell, the planes can stay in the house. Food for thought...
